Happy Hump Day

WOW what a storm last night, rain poured and the thunder and lightening sat me right up in the bed, it was so close and right over our house. Had to wake DH up for that one. I can't believe he sleeps thru those storms!! Yikes!

Had lettuce from my garden last night for supper, nice to know all organic and oh so fresh tasting! Will hate to buy lettuce at the market after crop is gone. Planting lettuce will be a must from now on. Low maintenance and I just have it in a planter box on my deck....anyone can do this! Now, just to get some tomatos off those vines and I will be all set!

Long weekend is coming up, looks like storms Sat then it may be near 90* on Sunday, I feel a beach day is in the midst! Monday will be a restful day at home with a short bike ride. We have a cute little breakfast place on our bike trail only about 10 miles away. Might ride up there for breakfast, they make some awesome homemade "healthy" choices then continue on to the lake and ride around there for awhile. No BBQ's or anything like that to attend so the food plan will probably stay pretty well on track.

End of another month is upon us, will start reviewing my month for my wrap up, take measurements, maybe some pics- although I don't feel like I have noticable progress.

Have a super day folks!

Great job on the gardening. I attempted to plant a garden the first year we moved into our house. I love to garden so this was a labor of love I really enjoyed. Welp, after tilling the ground and adding the correct balance of soil and fertilizer, planting, watering and weeding...the rabbits had a feast! Every single thing I planted was eaten. That ended that endevor. I use to still plant tomatoes and managed to actually get a good sized crop, but I was finding that I wasn't using them fast enough before they rotted and I didn't always have the time it takes to can them. Oh well, maybe I'll give it a go next year again. I'm with you on the monthly progress. I won't have much to report either.

Mammasix - I also have problems with rabbits so I plant in a container that fits over the rails of my raised deck. No critters get up there and it looks beautiful mixed with rosemary, thyme, sage, parsley. Right off the kitchen sliding door so I use the herbs just about every night!

A ten mile bike ride should get you primed for a good breakfast at the little breakfast place! I hope the weather cooperates with all of your plans for the weekend. Have a happy, productive day, my friend!

I admire your initiative in growing lettuce. I tried to once but the results were less than stellar. Had to spend what seemed like hours trying to get all the sand off the leave I harvested. But I looked at a packet of romaine seeds this last weekend for possible planting in fall - does that count? LOL! Enjoy your leisurely holiday weekend.

Your garden sounds lovely!! :D Fresh veggies really are the best. My mom has an over abundance of cucumbers right now!! I meant to bring some home, but forgot. They have about 30 sitting in their kitchen right now. Your weekend sounds Wonderful too!! And a bike ride and breakfast sounds like a perfect way to spend a day. :) Have a Great weekend Babs!
