Fritzy 22's Journal, 27 November 2022

I am not going to weigh myself. I just don't want to know right now. I'm going to wait until Saturday after (hopefully) getting back to my usual eating plan during the week. I didn't spend Thanksgiving with family. The only family close to me is my sister and she spent 5 days with 2 of her kids and grandkids at Disneyland. So I kept her dogs. I am used to having holidays on days before or after the actual day. Will meet with my sister and brother in law for eggnog and pie or something soon.

It was tiring for 5 days with my 3 cats and Bobby plus the two extra dogs. The "puppy" is actually 7 or 8 months old now. I think she only weighs about 5 pounds. I feel so lucky to have Bobby who will eat any dog food I give him. The puppy just won't eat. Didn't like the dog food my sister gave me to feed her dogs. Didn't like Bobby's food. Finally got her to eat a couple tablespoons of scrambled eggs with spam. Then for 3 days I boiled chicken breast for all the pets. Both of my sister's dogs loved it. So at least she got some food in her belly. She stared at me while I ate. So I know she wants people food. My sister said she rarely eats people food but I don't believe it. I remember my chow was like that when I first adopted her. She just didn't like the dog food. I would put it in her bowl, she would ignore it for hours and then finally lay down in front of the bowl and ate when she got hungry enough. I remember going to the feed store and they gave me 5 or 6 small sample bags of different dog foods and I tried each one to see if she liked anything. Then I spent the rest of her life cooking her chicken breast and rice with some dry food available if she wanted it.

I miss Daisy - the little one. It was like having a doll in the house. She's beautiful and sweet and the thing I had worried about (chewing) didn't happen. But she wanted outside all the time. I told her we live inside at this house. Bobby just goes outside for a minute or two. But Nancy's dogs love to go outside and sniff everything. The puppy wouldn't eat anything I gave her but was way too interested in bird and turkey poop.

I don't remember cooking, except for the scrambled eggs. Had coffee every morning and I bought a pizza on Wednesday. Hadn't known before that the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the biggest day of the year for pizza.

I made chili in the crock pot. It cooked all night and that's what I had for breakfast. I froze the rest of it in one cup servings sizes. Looking forward to getting back to my normal diet of maybe 1/4 bagel with 1 tablespoon of light cream cheese for breakfast and snacks of 4 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds, string cheese to get some protein grams alond with fat free milk. And tomato soup for dinner. So much easier and doesn't require much thought.

My sister brought over 2 dog beds, dog blankets, a crate, tons of food and toys. Her older dog slept on Bobby's bed most of the time. My cat Fritzy stayed in the crate with a little bed in it. Daisy either slept with the older dog or on my bed. She wanted to play with the cats but they basically just tolerated her.

I've been reading lots of posts and it sounds like everyone enjoyed the holiday in some form. I didn't get nearly as much exercise as everyone else. Took Bobby for one quick walk and the puppy for a little walk on 3 days. My brother in law said she had never been on a walk. She did good, stayed right next to me and pranced along. I told my sister she has to start walking Daisy because she really loved it. Finally got back to walking Bobby yesterday and got tired quickly. Today I just don't feel like walking.

Fritzy22– no, not just this time of year. She has been admitted to the hospital 17 times in the last two years.. she has lots of medical issues but long Covid, type 2 diabetes, and obesity , and a dedication to not doing physical activity are at the root of many of her issues. A lifetime of poor choices has caught up with her big time and it is now too late.
