elegantblkchina's Journal, 20 July 2009

Ok, so what I am noticing lately is that I am losing my momentum at the end of the week and totally slacking off. I haven't stopped completely but it's like I am on fire for like two weeks and then for two weeks I'm completely unmotivated for the last half of the week. Last week was the unmotivated week, I only worked out for threes days...granted work has been hectic, but I know that's more of an excuse than anything. This week I feel back on track but this up and down thing is really working on my progress (physically and mentally). I have goals that I'm trying to get to and I really thought that I'd be further along by now but because it seems to be taking forever, I'm losing my motivation.

Ok, that's off my chest and hopefully that will be enough to get me throught the week. I'm just tired.

I understand completely and I was just at that point recently. So what I did to motivate me is i decorated a wall in my basement next to the Treadmill. I put lil sayings like "No pain, no gain", "Put up and shut up" Then I have pics of Michelle Obama and Serena...sounds strange but true. The thing is whenever I feel like im not motivated I just look at that wall and it pushes me more to be the best I could be. Just a theory

I like to keep Oxygen and different fitness mags around me to help me out. I really think that I need to refocus and push myself through and then my motivation will come back. But I'm not going to stop because I do know that later on down the line I will be highly pissed at myself for giving up. Thanks ms_michelle.

When I was working out at a good level I kept great music on to get me moving. Somehow it seemed good pounding music was a motivator to keep going for me.

Thanks WECANDOTHIS. Tonight I went back to one of the DVD's that I hadn't done in a while. We have this love/hate relationship. I hate it because it works my like a dog, but that's also the reason that I love it and I get a quick results from it. I had been doing another DVD that was highly intense but short and I didn't ever feel like I was getting good work out so I wasn't really losing, I was maintaining, which is not the goal. So I guess I proved to myself that I need to put in the work so matter how long and hard...it's worth it.

I have been in a slight slump lately, too. Hopefully we have shaken this crap off and we can get back to business. I'm trying to lose 15lbs this month.

I hear ya Shia, I think I'm over it now...I got up early Sat to get in an extra workout to make up for my funk the week before. Funny thing though is that the scale didn't move even though I got in 5 hours of exercise this past week. But I can still SEE progress...stinkin' scale.
