JennBuck61's Journal, 12 March 2015

Hard to believe, but 1 pound lost again today so I am down to 203. I don't think I experienced this consistent daily loss before, even back when I was following IF. I think the difference may be because my intake does not exceed 1400. I believe my adjusted IIFYM made my RDI 1440. My initial RDI was over 1700 but I did not experience much success at that level back in 2014. Anyway, I am not complaining about the loss, just trying to understand the difference between now and the last time I did IF. Perhaps I am more focused this time too and I also added the early morning lemon water to the mix (though I am not sure it makes a difference). It's all very interesting to watch the process. Again, I actually overheat in the nights when I sleep and I realize it was not from being peri-menopausal ... it only started when I focused on IF recently. All I can say is wow! Have a great day friends - be golden!

You are really burning the fat now, Jenn. Do you use the ketone sticks to see how far into ketosis you are? So proud of you!

Ok, Jenn, this is amazing loss, but I am trying to understand...:-) what is IIFYM? I sort of saw a lot of bodybuilding posts related to it, but do you use it?

MOM: Thanks mom. I actually don't use the sticks - I don't have any at home but I've thought of getting some from the drugstore to see my ketosis level out of curiosity.

Aurora: IIFYM = If it fits your macros (i.e. ratio of protein/fat/carb you should consume). I was introduced to it by Draglist and went to the site to calculate my macros. I do not use pure IIFYM since you have the ability to indicate the 'eating program' you are already using (mine is low carb) in the IIFYM calculator. I plugged in that information along with others and it came up with the desirable macros for me and the RDI (Required Daily Intake). I adjusted it downwards using some percentage calculations from the site. I've been trying to follow that closely since last year but sometimes I was over-eating my RDI - hence my weight gain in the late fall to early January. I definitely do not body build though ... LOL!

Draglist: I expected results but honestly, I am still surprised at how things are going right now - very steady!!

Ha, I found the calculator! Very interesting! It is more generous than I in the recommendations :-) That is good.:-)

Aurora: It's worth a try right? I tried it and it has been working for me ... as long as I followed it. When I didn't ... I paid the price! LOL.

I found your comment about overheating at night interesting. I have been doing this and I went through menopause several years ago. When I do high fat it's like I have an indoor furnace going at all times ! I have froze my family this winter ! lol

Ha! barb! My DH is on blood thinners and we used to have a battle with the thermostat. He now has a gas fireplace in the family room and I don't go in there. I burn up. (Wonder if that was his plan all along?) LMAO!
