Hi buddies. So, while I do manage to generally come in at around 500-600 calories under my fat secret RDI, I am often surprised when I reach 1900 to 2000 cals. In anyones experience, is 1800-2000 calories for a 5foot 11 inch 170-171 lb active male a decent baseline? Im always hearing 1500 calories a day, but I would be a hungry hungry man if that was the case. Where I am at now I eat good foods to fuel my body and I am not hungry all day. Your thoughts please?

Check this out: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm It says that maintenance cals for you (little to no exercise) would be around 2000/day. Simple math means you would lose a pound a week at 1500.

Sorry, the link didn't set. Tried to link a really good calorie calculator at that site. I'm sure you can find it.

Give it a try! If you lose, then keep at it till you stop and then lower it a little. It's always best to lose using the highest amount of calories that you can. It makes maintaining the weight so much easier. Good luck!

Have you set your RDI on fat secret? If you go to My Diet, letter E. Set up, change RDI, You can change the calories there based on your activity level. I have sedintary and it is 1400 calories a day. Also I vary my meals over the day. I eat breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon and then supper. I stopped snacking after 8:00 pm. Only water then. There are many places that say it doesn't matter what time you stop eating, only that you don't go over calories. Sometimes once you have lost and are where you want to be it is a trick to find the balance. You may adjust your calories a bit higher if you are active and see if that helps. It will also alert you on calories color while you log and reset your count to the higher activity level RDI intake. Mel
