One of the areas I hike is an a banded man-made lake bed with trails built all through it. There are two separate MONSTER blackberry patches but you can’t get to the berries— makes me sad. All the berries along the periphery are quickly taken. When I was a young all the kids picked produce for the farmers all summer long. Blackberries were the last of the season. Tasted very little like the ones we see in stores today.

Kenna - My blackberries are wild. I transplanted some to my garden, and they produce like crazy. My brothers used to pick strawberries for the local farmer as a summer job. Sadly those days are gone.

The blackberries in my back lane are just starting to be berries ... strange weather here this year ... last year at this time - I was picking blackberries all over the place but this year - none of them are ready at this time - those look delicious. I pick them then freeze them flat on a cookie sheet and then store in bags and tubs in the freezer. They are so good.

Those look so good! Blackberries are one of my favorite foods, they usually don't make it past the first part of summer where I'm at. I've wanted plant a thornless variety in the yard for my family to enjoy for awhile now. We ended up getting blueberries this year instead.
