Sandy701's Journal, 19 May 2011

Not a whole lot of time to record things today.

Opened a box from storage and resurrected about 6 or 7 pr of perfectly fine shorts!! Also found a number of casual tops that will work great too. Luckily, the last time I was this weight, I lived in a warm location, so I've got a fair amount of clothes to bring into rotation. But...there are still a few things I have that are too small or too tight in the waist, so they can remain motivators for now.

Dogs and I were out walking again this AM; 3.3 miles for me, 2.6 for them. It's getting warmer and the forecast for the weekend on into next week puts us into the mid- to upper 80's with overnight lows not quite 70. That's great for warming up the pool (alas, still no heater fix) but it means I'm going to have to force myself to get up and out earlier in the day. Also, the kids will be out of school already next week(!!), so that means I need to be more alert for loose dogs being accidentally left outside by kids and/or doors left open by kids.

I'm hanging around home today because my oven is cleaning itself... those weekly baked chicken leg quarters really leave a lot of grease behind! So, I'll probably tackle the lawn, or at least part of it, while the oven does its thing.

Still wish I had a clone....or two.

That is awesome on the clothes....don't you love it when you can go "shopping" and never leave the house, or spend more money? I sure do! As for the weather, I sure wish it would warm up just a tad here and that it would stop raining every single day...seems like the sun shines for 1 or 2 days, then the rains start and they last for days and days! And if you find some place to get some clones, please let me know, I need a couple also!

Sandy - I love the length of those hopelessly out of fashion shorts. The new shorts are eight too long or way too short.

Nice that you were able to resurrect some shorts. It's so nice to be able to save money on clothes that we are just going to grow out of, isn't it? I'm with you on the clone thing.lol Hope your day was an enjoyable one.:)

Good job on saving them! I do the same thing now, save, save & save! Makes for lots of boxes, but I am glad I saved too! My journal will say almost the same!

Bren, I like the idea of a cleaning clone!! Also need the "outdoor chores" model too. Hope you had a good evening.

Stef, "storage box" shopping is the best! I hear you on that ongoing rain. When we first moved here, it seemed like it was dark and raining every day. Not so great for someone who wasn't all that keen on moving to begin with. Hope your weather improves in time for Memorial Day.

Maw...it's especially great when I really liked those clothes to begin with! Have a good day.

BuffyBear, I agree with you on current styles of shorts. You'd never catch me wearing those super-short styles no matter WHAT weight I was! And the rest are so long, they just look stupid on me. As for being out-of-style, I've always believed that if you've got ATTITUDE you can pull off ANY style!!!

Laurie, lots of us want clones! Seems like it would be a good business opportunity for some scientist out there somewhere.... Maybe Art could go out and start working on that; it would get him out of the house for you??!!!

Squiggs, LOL, no I don't carry my dogs. That would be a whole 'nother workout, as they're well over 100 pounds together! I'd have to log some weight-lifting then! And yes, it's a whole bundle of shorts! When I last wore them, I had just moved from the North to the South for the very first time, so I really needed a whole summer-type wardrobe. Once I found a style and brand I liked, I pretty much bought up every color I could find - and then some!

Babs & GG-Girl, I KNEW those shorts and tops would eventually come back into my wardrobe. These are all from a time when I was a real clothes-horse, a common malady when working retail. They're either basic enough to wear style-wise, or are unique enough that you can't tell what decade they came from! LOL!

Sandy - I tell my Grandkids that after you have lived as long as I have you've earned the right to dress how you like.

I call my self a clothes collector, as I used to closely resemble the horse remark! LOL.
