maribrooks's Journal, 12 June 2009

Ugh. I gained a pound. And, I really did much better at following a diet AND exercising this week. I ran twice! So, I am a little discouraged. But, I know there is a chance I am underestimating the amount I eat (I have just started keeping a more precise journal to help me with this), and maybe (just maybe) some of the gain is from muscle gain. I'll try not to let myself get too down over this.

At this very moment, I am SO hungry. I have eaten 17 of my 25 points and want to save the rest of dinner, but I feel awful. Maybe I should eat something sooner. Drinking water has not helped fill me up, so I think I actually am just really hungry.
196.4 lb Lost so far: 1.6 lb.    Still to go: 31.4 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

You probably gained some muscle while you were losing fat, so try not to stress on it. Try soup. It tends to be low in calorie but filling. Just watch the sodium and consider making your own.

If exercising is new and your muscles are sore, they retain water to help them heal, which can show as a gain on the scale. It is temporary and goes away when your muscles get used to the new activity. It can come back when you change exercise again. But you are doing fine. Take your measurements! You may lose inches when you don't see the scale move and not realize it. Both mean you are losing fat/weight.

Thanks for the suggestions! I love soup. And, I never thought to take my measurements. That seems like it could be really helpful motivation :)
