Starladesiree's Journal, 31 May 2009

Wow. Crazy weekend. We got to MOVE! Yay! So all day Friday, I organized and packed stuff and got it ready to be hauled to the new place. Note: by stuff I mean all of my stuff AND most of my boyfriend's stuff. All day Saturday we moved. The boyfriend's old apartment included two flights of stairs... I'm telling ya.. right now my ass should be the perkiest ass in America from all those steps. Seriously. Ow. Oh, and we've only moved HIS stuff so far. Since it's a new place I didn't sleep well last night and I've pretty much been awake since about 5AM. When I get off of work at 6PM, I plan on going to my parents' and grabbing as much as I can of my stuff. Since I was up so early I went and bought some (cheap, boo)furniture. A desk, a large bookshelf, a small bookshelf, and a TV stand. Yikes. I put the packages in my freaking car by myself even though I asked an employee to help me. Jerks. Whatever. I'm a hoss, I can do it! I put together the desk, and the boyfriend is putting together the rest while I'm at work. I told him to please follow the directions. Hahaha. So pretty much after all of that, all we'll need is a sofa, a bed, some end tables, and I WANT an ottoman, but I guess we don't HAVE to have one. ;-) I also WANT new cookware and knives and kitchen stuff.. Sigh. I hate being broke! Lol. Oh well. It'll look like a home instead of an empty apartment soon, I hope.

Stairs are the most horrible object on Earth when you're moving. When I helped move my friend out of his apartment last year we just started dropping his stuff over the balcony to other people so we wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. lol Thankfully he doesn't own anything too fragile.

Hahaha. Yeah... I doubt Mark would have been up for that. We were going to take a desk that was in there... but when we went to pick it up it just fell apart, haha. My thighs and butt are KILLING me today. I'm limping around the office like the tin-man.

What a productive work out, though! My roommate moved out Saturday, so I spent the weekend cleaning up after him and rearranging my furniture. Yay for having a home again! Best of luck continuing your day without too much pain!

Used to live in apt on 3rd floor - u would think the # of times u walked up/down stairs would be beneficial! As far as kitchen stuff...uhh, you could get engaged, then other people would probably buy that stuff for you! LOL. Hey, great job on the weight loss! Keep trying....you're gonna make it!

I know this might not sound like your idea of fun, but have you tried any of the thrift stores in your area? Youd be suprised what you can find sometimes. An ottoman that maybe just needs something thrown over it to look clean or something....do you have a St Vincent De Paul in your area? Thats a thrift store chain that furniture companies donate "damaged" furtiture to. Meaning you can get a brand new couch that might have a tiny tear in the corner or something. Honestly, 5 ppl I know, including myself have gotten the same style kitchen table there because they take excess they cant sell (furniture stores i mean) and donate them for the write offs. Give it a go =)

No, the only thrift stores around here are really really trashy ones. Yikes.
