TotalLoser's Journal, 30 April 2009

Slow and steady sucks. I know, that sounds awful (and borders on swearing) but... Three pounds is great. I know that. I do! I'm still just bummed. I guess I'm at the point now where that's "normal" but I'm not normal in the good ways - why do I have to put up with it in the crappy ones? I know I shouldn't look at other people's outcomes but it's difficult. It's not like I'm not doing what I'm supposed to do or eating too many points. I keep thinking that maybe if I lose it slower my skin will still fit afterwards. :) Seriously, it's one step closer. And it does add up. I've lost 12 pounds in four weeks. If I did that every month (which I know is not an attainable goal), I'd be at my ideal weight in 17 months. By my 16th wedding anniversary I'd be hot! :) Oh well, moving on. I'm making progress. Slow & steady...

You sound like pretty much everyone. You're making progress and you KNOW you're making progress and are happy about it, but you're impatient. Who isn't?! lol! I know it sucks, but it'll happen, and you obviously know that! I take it you just needed to vent. Totally understandable! And props to you for losing so much in such a short period of time! :)

I can definitely appreciate your honesty. I know it sucks and I'm right there with you, in my head, I think I should be able to lose 15lbs a month. So I know where you are. You are doing a great job and you will get there.

Everyone gets impatient and the human side of us wants immediate gratification. If we work our tails off today then we should look like the hard body hottie on the beach today. Unfortunately it doesn't come with that kind of speed. Slow and Steady wins the race I am sure of it, but it is not an easy race to win. Think of it this way, it takes us so long to get to that goal weight because it is practice for maintaining. When we get to that maintaining point it will still be work a different kind of work, and much harder because it will be for the rest of our lives. You are doing wonderful. Keep it up.
