So I have court for my custody hearing on the 20th. I was trying to eat right but to be honest I’m so stressed and trying to keep it together I am not even paying attention. But today I realized I’m binge eating sweets again to deal with my anxiety. It’s something I have always done when I’m nervous. Something about the sugar is a distraction and almost just ugh! It’s comforting and distracting and self sabotage. So disappointed in myself cause I realize I’ve been doing this for a week now.

I feel like my addiction to sugar truly is that. It’s an addiction. When I have a life stressed what do I do? I go back to my old ways and I consume consume consume and get that sugar high fix just like any addict would with their poison of choice. But at the same time I know that I have an excuse. But that’s what it is. It’s an excuse. “Oh after court I’ll get back on track.” “There is just too much going on for me to focus on my body.”

The fact is if I truly want to own my issues I need to do just that. Maybe having my body and my weight to focus on during stressful situations is the thing I DO need to focus on so I can have less anxiety. Cause all this is is anxiety over the feeing of lack of control. Well what can I have control over? My body! My diet! My weight! I mean come on self this should be common sense by now 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

You know the answer to the test. It's just a matter of moving forward and putting yourself/health above all else. It's never going to be completely easy or everyone would be healthy. But that's kind of the part that makes it the best feeling ever. Be kind to yourself we all fall down. But only some of us get up and keep moving ahead. You can do this if you just believe in yourself.

I cannot even begin to imagine how stressful a custody hearing must be. Maybe you could throw out the sweets and stock up on fresh fruits and veggies instead. Melons are great low calorie bulk foods and very sweet too. Holding you in my heart. 💜💛💚

I reached maximum density during all that divorce/custody bullshit. All I can say is, the better you look, the better you feel, the better you parent, and the better you live. Let's go!

ty for being honest about sugar addiction. I went from 144 to 234 in 6 months because I was so stressed about family stuff. the stuff eventually worked out but now I have a big weightloss mountain to climb. Stay committed

I recommend listening to Mandisa. She has some great songs to help yourself to get through difficult times and help with anxiety. You should you also try reading the Bible and having a relationship with God. 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. Jesus loves you.💕

Proverbs 12:25 An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind cheers him up. Phillipians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus. My mom gave these verses when I was going through stuff, so I hope they will help you. Love and support.💗

Please don't be too hard on yourself ; dealing with custody hearing and all that must be super hard to go through and trying to keep weight on watch all while juggling everything is not easy task and you are doing good - my only advice is before putting a sweet on your mouth make sure to chug a big glass of water ( it helped me ..though didn't cure me cause we share the same weakness ) ..good luck! :)

I am so like you- love my sweets when i am stressed. I have been baking things and freezing them in serving sizes - so when that nasty demon raises it ugly head I am ready for it. Hang it there. You really have a lot going on. (((((HUGS))))

If I get outside for a minute. Just weeding. Even just breathing in some fresh air. It takes me away from the danger zones of fridge and pantry and gives me time to think. When I come back inside. My crave is usually over.

Same minus the court custody. You are right and I think the same thing. I hope I one day use exercise to cope. Good luck to you!

Some people use meditation or yoga.

In my humble opinion a custody hearing is a good time to coast and focus on self improvement after that extreme stressor is removed. Get yourself some nutients any way you can. Even if you eat veggies covered in sugar sauce. (Broccoli and Oyster sauce etc) Nourish yourself so that you're at your best in court. Take it easy on yourself, you'll get there. 💚💙💜

You've named your poison. We're all grappling with this addiction! The stressful times make it so much more difficult. You will be able to get back to focusing on it later.
