Hey Chakalina's Journal, 12 July 2014

I don't know what I ate yesterday. I had pasta and ground turkey with salsa. Then a few beers by the pool. Then mac n cheese, a cheeseburger, asparagus, tortilla chips, spinach dip, salsa, sour cream, prosecco, and a marshmallow. Crazy day. I guess I know what I ate, I just don't know why. It's too hard keeping up with this. It takes so much energy and brain power and will power. There's an added pressure to keep every thing in order, not just what I eat, but every thing else too. Then there's the guilt and the punishment and the mind games. It's an infinite swirl, spins until I'm too dizzy to keep hanging on. I know, relax, it's only weight loss.

I know it is hard to do ,but I don't know how old you are , but I look at it differently now. Being sick from being over weight is just to expensive. And all the pills you have to take just makes you sicker , so by the time you reach 65 all the fun you have is going to the Dr. and the cost of medicine is just going up. But most of all I brought all of this illness on myself and that hurts the worse. My mother was the best cook and she taught me well, because that's what my family thinks about me. At first I thought it was a complement, but now I have the honor of being the one that made them sick by all of the good ole country food I fed them. My hubby has had 2 heart attacks and the DR. said to me " Why did you feed him all of the bad foods". Your the cook !!! Wow did I feel really bad. If your young you have time to turn your health around so you can get out and have fun ,even at 65,instead of feeling so bad you never go out. This is not funny but you talk about mind swirls, I have the fear that if our government keeps on like it is, they will take all of us old and sick and make Soylent Green out of us. Did you ever hear of that movie, look for it.

@Sandy - yep, it's there. Just takes a couple minutes some times. Also, it may shorten the post on your screen. Just click on the part you CAN see and it will expand the post.

It really isn't all that hard if you make a game of it, strategize. Pick a game you like to play. If you really want to make it to a goal, you will work toward it. You worked toward your teacher's certs, you can do this.

@Sandy that was a nice post. Don't regret it. My kids tell me that I taught them to eat "that" way too. They are all weight conscience, though not my size. And that hurts my heart, that I didn't do better for them. Back then it was "survival" food because of finances, etc. Bread, peanut butter, spaghetti, mac n cheese, au gratin potatoes, fried potatoes, etc. Yes, we had plenty of veggies, but way too much carbs. Cakes, pies, cookies, etc. No one starved around me!

Thanks everybody. Feeling better. Sandy, I hear what you're saying- especially complimenting Ma's cooking. I never thought of it that way.

I had a role to keep up after my mom died and everyone comes to my house for all the dinners. But I got news for them from now on they are only getting healthier meals. I really didn't stop to think what I was doing to my health, till lately. I am a Diabetic, COPD ,PAD, Arthritis, bad thyroid and most of I did to myself, heart problems. I did quit smoking 7 years ago and now my hubby as quit since his heart attack. I had a talk with my daughter a few years ago when she went from a size 4 to a 12, I looked her in the face and I said" Do you want to look like me"? She said "No" I said well you better do something about it and she did. She runs Marathons, Yoga, hard exercise class's and now she looks so good ,I am proud of me for making her see the real facts. I don't mean to be long winded, but Does anyone ever feel like they are committing a crime for being over weight?

Yes Sandy! Even though I was healthier than my co-workers and employees, I would get the jabs at my weight. I didn't smoke, I played softball on a women's team until I was in my late forties (I played in every game), and I exercised every day and I felt good. I still feel good by the way. But the girls in their 20s would make cracks about my size, about a size 14 to their 0s, 2s, 6s, while puffing away on the cigs and talking about the hard drinking they did every night. They might have been a smaller size, but they weren't doing their bodies any favors. Also, I had kids in their teens, most of them had none.
