John— I am retired now but I had 45 great years. Loved every single minute of it.

Hide and seek of figuring out which drip is sounding the alarm. Be kind to yourself, lots of work going on there.

Did you know, we now teach patients to do this at home? Not multiple pumps but complex enough for some elderly people. I became very good at teaching🤣🤣🤣

My office, read my living room these days is at least as tangled. I call it my spaghetti salad. Fortunately, no life directly depends on it in my case.

Reminds me 2011 when my wife was 36 days at the ICU because of H1N1. She had 13 of these around her.

We used to keep narrow rolls of colored tape in these rooms (like Duck tape) and when we started getting more than a few lines we taped around the tubing at the source, the insertion point and at any connector sites. It really helped to shorten the trouble shooting time.. We reserved special colors for the most potentially lethal/critical drug the patient was getting—- the red liners

I don't know how you guys do it (Medical superheros). Thank you. Drs are great, but nurses are the backbone.

Apologises if this doesn't belong on this forum. But have been anxious these days due to 2nd wave. Kenna, I am somewhat comforted by your post about recovering covid patients. My mother recovered from 1st wave of covid, not w/o residual affects. I know about the mental & physical damage this virus leaves behind. She is mostly recovered with months of PT.
My mom is in her late 70's. Healthy lifestyle, pre-covid.
My husband & I are in the high risk category, even though we're both vaccinated. I'm still nervous. We are extra careful. We excercise, but our diet is still left much to be desired.

ACBellerose— non of us are comfortable with any of this, the entire Covid situation. There are no promises or guarantees whether you get the vaccine or not. My goal in advocating for getting the vaccine is to do what I feel is right to protect me from others and others from me. We have much to learn about this virus and this is not over by far. We will deal with this for a long time to come. We do know that there are far too many unvaccinated people for us to be able to develop herd immunity. At this point I wear my mask, use caution in public places, limit close encounters, and I choose to seldom eat in restaurants, but then I didn’t eat in restaurants much before hand so no big loss. We cannot live in fear, we do have to resume some normal activities. It’s good that you exercise, we know that helps. Our comorbidities are what they are. It’s great that you are working on your diet— the goal being to come through the Covid years healthier than when you entered.
