You may be struggling cause 1k is too low for you. The scheme to keep the muscles and reduce fat is the following: count macros and keep the calories high enough not to loose muscle mass. Try 1.5k instead with at least 90 g of protein, at least 62 g of fat and rest carbs. (Calculated for your weight)

@ivettimood, according to which gospel?

Eral, it's pretty well studied. To lose mostly fat, you want a small deficit and a high amount of protein. It will also stave off weekend binges that bring your daily average far above 1k anyway. To be honest, bodyweightx10 will have anyone besides a coma patient in a pretty good deficit anyway.

I agree with Diablo and Ivetti! Perhaps try it for a couple of weeks and see how it works for you. 🌞

Hey everyone, thank you for the advice and support! Yesterday I had a lot of protein yesterday (pb Jelly sandwich, tuna and bell peppers, then rotisserie chicken and broc last night) and it really helped! Plus staying hydrated....my biggest struggle lol

I am a sedentary 65yo who had myself on 900kcal a day, and was gaining.
My GP said it was ludicrous, & put me on 1,200-1,400kcal per day. I am doing much better.
If an old lady like me can lose at a higher calorie count. Even though it makes no sense. Then anyone can lose as a higher calorie count.
FS has a tool to figure out your RDI. It can help you find a caloric amount where you can still lose weight while eating a good diet.

@bgr12 isn't it confusing!? One source says "to lose weight it's as simple as calories in calories out" while somewhere else says the opposite. I might reach out to my Dr. Too. :)

What happens is that when people get a more appropriate amount of calories, they burn more calories via NEAT.

Chiming in the calorie discussion: years ago I was in a clinical trial for a weight loss drug. Part of it was that I had to keep a food diary and discuss it with a dietitian at each visit. She would scold me if I didn't eat enough; she said that when you go under 1100 calories a day, your body goes into conservation mode and metabolism starts to slow down. (Note: I don't know if the 1100 number was specifically for my situation, or if it's universally carved in stone. Please discuss with your doc or preferably a dietitian.)

Fascinating! I'm on week 3 of my morning workouts so I'm hoping I can get a handle on what my body needs to lose weight. You guys are all helping so much!
