Caitie's Journal, 21 February 2011

Ok today I am starting a new diet. I am excited but apprehensive. I know I need to get healthy for my 7 year old daughter but it is so hard!!! I know I am an emotional eater and all my life I have tied food to memories. Plus working full time and going to school full time and being a single mother = little time and more drive throughs!!! I am starting with staying under 1000 calories a day for now and then as the weight comes off and I become more active I will increase the calories. Also the guy on DR Oz said to take one day off a week so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. So that is what I am going to try for now. Hopefully this works!!

I'm no professional but I would strongly advise against going that low with your calories off the bat. At your current weight, you can even do 2000 calories a day & the weight will come flying off, I guarantee you. You won't have to worry about "starvation mode," whatever that means for your body, & you'll give yourself some room to drop your calories if you reach a point when your weight loss slows. I was at basically the same exact weight you are 8 months ago & I started out just under 2000 calories a day. I didn't bring in regular exercise until a few weeks later. You can do this, & you don't have to feel hungry, restricted or deprived while you do it.

hey caitie i agree with kstubb if you drop your calories to 1000 i think that it might be way too hard and you will be starving..and we all know that when we starve ourselfs we go crazy and that is how you end up cheating on a diet...me personally im on atkins you should try it...i have been on it since jan. 20 and i have lost 13 1/2 pounds..it might not seem like alot but i have also lost over 20 inches all over my body in this time...its an easy diet just low carb...you should go to their website and check it out Atkins.com i know from personal expierene that i cant be hungry on a diet and with this diet i think im not eating enough...lol..its a great diet for emotional eaters...you get to eat 3 meals a day and 2 snacks...its working out perfect for me...but write me somtime and let me know how your doing i love to chat with new buddies....weight loss is the hardest thing i have ever done its easy putting the weight on but a hole lot harder getting it off...good luck girl...and just keep remembering why your doing this...your little girl will be soo proud of you...
