Good morning all! The weekend past was not much for relaxation for this momma, and I am tired! Saturday I went shopping with my mom to give her a hand with my sister. My sister is in a wheelchair, and as you can imagine it is very challenging to push a wheelchair and a cart through the store, to the car, etc. She is a tough woman though, and she does it alone. I help when I can. In the afternoon my husband and I went to the mall to do some walking. No money, but it was nice to get out lol. For dinner we went to TGI Fridays. This was a surprise for me, and I had no time to prepare at all. I made a smart decision under pressure and had a grilled chicken cobb salad. Whoop Whoop!
Yesterday morning my son and I got up early and did our grocery shopping. That was about as active as I got yesterday, because shortly after getting back home he started running a fever and complaining of a sore throat. He is still running a fever (both kids are on spring break) and I'm kind of doing a coin toss as we have no medical insurance until April first. Needless to say, I won't be making it to the gym today.
That's my second gym skip, although the scale keeps dropping. I'm not even recording my weight today because it just doesn't seem right and I don't want to jinx it lol. Maybe that calorie boost last week is insanely beneficial?? I am validating my 'eat to lose' theory though. I always hate it when I see people fifty pounds heavier than I am now cutting there intake down to under one thousand to beat a 'stall' or accelerate weight loss. It's counter-productive, not to mention unsustainable. People just straight out refuse to believe you can eat normally and lose weight.
I have also seen a lot of people who keep losing on a specific diet plan, gaining it back, losing again on the same plan, gaining it back, and now are out to lose it again on that very same plan. You can't give advice where it isn't welcome, and I'm not against any person or any specific diet plan I just wish there was some way to be a voice of reason in the madness. If it didn't work the fist time, toss it. If it isn't something you can live with every single day, vacations, holidays, weekends, then toss it. I know lots of people are really into Atkins because of the initial weight loss In the induction phase, which I have done as well, but anyone significantly overweight will lose large amounts of water in the first couple weeks of a healthier diet. That comes with breaking into the glycogen we have stored up in our livers, which has to be depleted before we even break into fat cells and happens to be loaded with water. Which, now that I think about it... glycogen storage is probably responsible for the 2-3lb gains we often see after a spurge. All that water being held on to store the glycogen, then we use it up within a few days and weight goes back down... hmmm, I'm a genius! lol I would be interested in going back to look at how much I lost in my first month, a hell of a lot more than I'm losing now, guaranteed. I guess I'm ranting now, and I truly don't want to offend anyone on any plan. Not every plan is for every person, I just hope that we are all picking a lifestyle that is sustainable for us.
So anywho, inspired by a recipe I found on this here site I made deconstructed cabbage rolls for dinner last night. I thought they were alright, a tad bland though. I also have extra cabbage and some sausage, so fried cabbage with sausage will probably be a more flavorful way to get my cabbage fix. I've been trying to find new recipes to spice up meals a bit. I have so many of my own recipes on here so that I can just pop them in my food journal, it might be nice to find some already logged recipes to try lol. Recommendations anyone?
So that's about all that I have for today :-), Have a wonderful day!!
PS- My last couple journals have brought in a lot of comments and I just want to thank everyone that takes a moment to read/support/comment on my journals. I am sooo flattered by the responses I've gotten. I do my best reciprocate that, but if I miss you know that your comments do not ever go unnoticed, and I am very grateful!
PSS- I lost fourteen pounds my first month of eating right and exercising. In case anyone was interested lol.
