cancer sucks! dexamethazone causing me to want to eat everything and anything in sight. I work really hard at keeping it healthy. last night broccoli and beets for dinner, tonight acorn squash with mushrooms. tomorrow is chemo so I will bring yogurt some fruit and nuts, PBJ sandwich, crackers with humus. 2 breakfast bars, by the time I'm done and go home after 3 hours of chemo I want to eat again. still holding on 188. to 190 but I hear stories of gaining 20-40 lbs because of chemo. if anyone has any suggestions I'm willing to listen. I never want to see 200 lbs again. I'm limited in activity because of port, being tired 😫, I often lose train of thought, stress takes over and anxiety. at any rate 2 months done tomorrow, 4 to go then double mysectomy and hopefully cancer free.. updates later. so disheartening.

Thinking of you. what are your favorite healthy foods? I really like raspberries, and asparagus with peas. Zoodles have been a good one because you can put marinara and parm on them and it feels like a solid hot comfort meal. Sending the healing vibes your way. ❤

Sounds like you've got a solid plan for your eating today. So sorry about your cancer diagnosis. Praying that your chemo will be effective and that after your surgery, you will have cancer permanently behind you. Hang in there, and try as much as possible to find the things you can be thankful for in the midst of your trials.

I’m sorry you are going through this. My sister and niece both had breast cancer at the same time, both got a mastectomy. My niece did gain weight from the chemo. I wouldn’t worry so much about the weight gain right now. Concentrate on eating healthy so you will be healthy. Sending prayers for your journey.

I had breast cancer in late 2014. Hard row to hoe. Did the full meal deal: surgery, chemo and radiation. I do know how you feel. I did gain during this time - about 50 pounds to be honest. My doctor insisted that I was not to address my weight while going through treatment. In fact, she said those who gain generally have the best prognosis. It was hard to watch the weight go on. Once I finished all treatments I immediately dealt with the weight. Took a year to get it off. The doctor wanted me on a high fat, high protein diet to deal with the chemo depletions. I ate whole foods and tried not to have crazy sized portions and then just let it be. This is a hard time on you mentally, physically and spiritually. You are processing a great deal and frankly weight may just have to take a backseat for now. I did find daily outside time was helpful mentally and physically and I did do daily arm mobility exercises (my surgery came before the chemo). Sometimes it was a 10 minute slow walk but it was something! Be kind and gentle to yourself.

Laurie, hugs and kisses coming your way. I don’t know if you have kids or not, but we teach them one step at a time. When you are done going through this part of your life, you are going to be a changed person all around. Not so much physical aspect but on the spiritual level. You are going to be stronger then ever. You will be mindful of your health. You will do what is right for your body. But please one step at a time. This will be a very challenging time in your life, but also a rewarding time. It will happen you will see. YouTube meditation videos will help. Breathing exercise will help. Walk as much as you are able to. Walking is number one stress reducer. Your body will heal and you will become stronger then ever. Good luck with your chemo. If you can tolerate, fresh fruit and vegetables. God bless you on your journey ❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹😘😘😘😘🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I haven't looked at your history, but wanted to ask, have you tried fasting yet? Or Keto? "They" (the health industry) says that sugar feeds cancer cells, and ketones starve them. They also say fasting for autophagy rids the body of cancer cells and other types of mal cells or deformed cells. Not saying it cures cancer, but can remove a lot of cancer or potential cancer cells from our bodies. When my son had chemo/radiation/bone marrow transplant they also had him fast, for several weeks actually. Wouldn't even give him IV nutrition. I didn't understand then, I just thought they were starving him, but now I think maybe they were doing it to induce autophagy.

Sending good juju out to the universe for you. Do you have any friends or family near you could ask to premake healthy meals/care packages for you (or you could try one of those services), then it's weight off your shoulders while you get to focus on getting better.
