207 lbs today. Still chasing ketosis. I am not there yet and had carb cravings yesterday. It was tough. I ended up having an Atkins bar in the late evening so I need to update yesterday's food diary. It's amazing how long it takes to get back to ketosis and how easy it is to get kicked out of it. The good news is that I am getting there. I need the appetite suppression it provides and the energy you get once you are solidly there. Being practical though, these things will happen and we have to be prepared to deal with it. The important thing is to get back on track quickly or you might fall headfirst into carb "coma". Carbs are the easiest thing to over consume because they are conveniently everywhere. The more you eat the more you want .... before you know it you have regained what you worked so hard to lose and lost your will power in the process. But I won't let that happen to me ....I am fighting to keep my low carb sobriety at all costs!

You might want to skip the Atkins bars for now. I know they tend to throw me out of Ketosis. Not sure why, but they do.

sorry I dont follow Atkins but I keep hearing this word Ketosis. What is it? Do I need it in my life? ;)

Darlene, I agee about the Atkins bar 100%. IT IS NOT A GREAT FOOD CHOICE! It doesnt kick me out of ketosis but the sugar alcohol makes me gassy. That can't be good. I have 3 that I had as emergency... I don't think I will buy more.

thanks Draglist! Ok on the theory but how do you get into ketosis? is it by eating super low carbs and lots of fats??? how long are you supposed to stay in that phase before moving on?

Tulip one site you may find interesting is Diet Doctor also do a search on ketosis as there is so kuch info out there. In my case I have gone through a series of discoveries and experiments to find what ketosis means for me. I also went to a site (imthink per draglist suggestion) to help figure out my macros (ratio of fat /protein/carbs) iifym.com. I am still learning everyday but for me the right ketosis formula seems to be underm1400 cal and roughly 35 % protein, 60% fat and 5% carb. It will be different for everyone based on many factors so it is important for you to find what I call your "ish". I hope that helps to point you in the right direction.
