I went over my calories tonight. My total calories were 1408. I'm still not sure how many I should have, but that sounds like way too many. I seem to go way below or over. It's my first day back on, so I'm not being hard on myself. I'm making better choices than I have been. Ugh, forgot to add my steamed veggies in, so it's more than 1408. LOL. First night and like I said, happier than eating at some fast food place. What I ate was healthy. My "wasted/bad" calories were my two glass of wine for unwinding.

I wish I knew the web sites, but I've heard others here talk about sites that will tell you what your RDI should be. You could probably just google "how many calories should I eat". I try to stay between 1200-1500, so you seem right on track to me… but thats me, of course! I do know that going too low, especially for loo long, can send things askew also. One day at a time, my sweet friend! xoxox

Thanks Ruhu. I am also on a site at work. I was in their weight loss contest, but I stopped that at the same time as I did here (just no time). I'll check on there today and see what they say. I was thinking 1200. I was setting my goals too low and I think what I need to do is set a lower goal (maybe 50 pounds), then when I reach that set another goal.

I try to stay between 1200 and 1500 too. On a day I'm very active or workout hard I make sure to eat the 1500, otherwise I eat 1200 - 1300.

I agree with the others - you seem to be on track calorie-wise. Lowering the goal to be more attainable is also a good move - less daunting. And, if you can't have a glass of wine or two occasionally, what's the point. :)

When I was counting calories and eating only 1200 I couldn't lose weight. When I joined weight watchers I counted the calories I consumed and the points and it turns out that I need to be consuming around 1500 calories. I am not losing at an extraordinary rate, but I am making progress and I don't feel half starved. You don't want to send your body into starvation mode. It is better to add a little exercise. I think you have it set pretty good. And I agree, if you can't have a little wine once in a while, what is the point.
