Question - if you are on a good healthy eating plan and have cut out a lot of junk from your food library to begin with, what do you give up for Lent? ;)

give up a non-food indulgence.
do lent without, say, netflix or your daily sudoku or anything else that you find yourself craving on a regular basis.

I wish I could give up my in-laws for Lent.
Sigh.
A non-food indulgence is probably your best bet, or you can do a good deed every day/week instead of giving up something. That's usually what I do, and am more successful with that than I am giving up something that's food :)

.
yes, I think I will have to find something substantial either to do or give up, not related to food. Going to think on it.

I was going to say something non food as well. Even say Facebook if you go on a lot.

Hmmmm thats a hard one there ... Wonder if it would count if we add something like extra workouts instead of giving up a food item since we have already given up so much. And maybe do the good deed as well. Hmmmm maybe we need a lent exercise challenge on here ???

What about an hour of TV? Use that time to walk...read a book...take a bubble bath. Or....negative thoughts/comments. If you work and you take an elevator...give it up and take the steps.

Chryssm, that's a great idea! We could do an extra workout or something and offer it up for all those who cannot use their legs, who cannot run!

If you don't already, how about devoting an hour a day to the STUDY of the Bible. Not just the reading of it. Spending 40 days devoted to understanding the people of Jesus' time, the way they lived their life and how they perceived the time they lived in can unlock many ideas in the Bible that aren't gleamed from a Sunday reading of one or two passages in Church.

I do need to devote more to learning the Word of God, and finding another church. We are members at one and have been for many years, but we felt due to some problems it was time to leave. I want to serve and not just sit.
