I just wanted to send a shout out to all the Fat Secret members for being a part of a community which has helped me change my life and how I think about food! It's so encouraging and motivating to read what others are going through and their successes as well as their challenges. Even though I don't have many buddies yet, I've never felt like I'm in this alone, so thank you!!!

I've been logging everything since November and stringently adhering to the low sodium lifestyle, and it's amazing how my appetite has changed. I've read that it takes 30 days to change a habit (don't have the science to back that....), and I think it has worked for me. I used to go to a fast food drive-up (wouldn't even get out to walk in!) at least once a day and eat out or bring home "take out" every evening. It is impossible to stay low sodium and eat fast food and eat out every day.

Now my cravings are for plain, low-fat yogurt (1/4 cup) with frozen raspberries (1 cup), and that is such a treat that is low in calories and sodium and high in fiber. Grape tomatoes and unsalted almonds have replaced french fries and onion rings. Once in awhile I will think about a quarter pounder with cheese, so I will have chicken stir fry with vegetables, and I'm satisfied. Not sure how that works, but it does!

Again, thank you all!!!

I think the big break came for me when I quit trying to see how much volume I could eat and stay under my RDI, and started to just think more about balanced nutritious meals, and cutting out the foods that added a lot of calories and little else. And I agree with you, some of the simpler things started being the treats I craved instead of the banana splits and quarter pounders. Good job!

After almost 7 months of this, the thought of a Quarter Pounder makes me queasy!
