I just had to update my food diary slightly. I changed my fat bomb recipe so that it now includes more coconut and I recalculated the nutritional value of each fat bomb ... it's higher than I thought!!! So I created the coconut fat bomb as my personal snack and swapped out the other recipe that I normally use. I also went back and updated my food diary for the entire week - it seems I have been consuming about 1300 or more calories per day, with exception of one day. Do you see how careful you have to be when tracking? It's important to pay close attention for sure. Because I want to have a clear understanding of how many calories I am consuming and the fat/protein/carb ratio, it is important that I include the correct information in my food diary. So, with a calorie intake of over 1300 I have still been losing weight so I am very happy with that! My net carbs have continued to be very low - under 20 so I am going to try to keep it close to 20 (My plan is to experiment with carbs by increasing my carbs slowly to check my sensitivity and to prepare me for life after this low level of carb intake - I want to get to about 50 or so by the time I get to maintenance).

That sounds like an awesome plan. I was just reading that they (Atkins people) want us eating around 1500 calories AND 20 net carbs. How is this possible? Fats? Maybe I remember this wrong ... but whatever the weekly carbs was, it was higher than most of the Atkins followers are eating.

It is really difficult to get that balance I find (carbs/calories) and still lose weight. I have reset my RDI for the umpteenth time - it is now at 1400 which is probably more realistic. It's very hard to get 20 carbs in now when I am trying to eat higher protein but I will keep trying. You are right re: your observation about the carb consumption of most Atkins followers. There is a fear of carbs ... I get that!

Keeping accurate records now also means you can go back and see what was working if you hit a road block. I hope you dont need it as much as I have but if you do it is priceless information.

Darlene: You are so right! I know I will need it as I go along because even with the best laid plans, sometimes we go astray!
