Good Monday Morning Friends ... this is supposed to be "blue Monday" (most depressing Monday of the year) but I refuse to be influenced by that! I am feeling excited and motivated with the changes to my WOE. Day 3 of my experiment and I do feel some movement downwards. Pants are slightly looser around the waist although there's only a small difference on the scales. I have to admit that although I am not hungry per se, I am not feeling very energetic (moving around is a bit of an effort). This must be based on my reductions and I am probably going into another level of Ketosis (I think I am going to bend and get some keto sticks if I can at the local Pharmacy today).

My macros have been recalculated and it's 1720 calories per day in order to achieve weight loss. This is 80 calories less than I had mapped as my RDI so I have now updated my RDI (but remember I have been probably eating at about 2100+ based on over-portioning and according to my macros, 2100 is the amount of calories that would see me maintaining my weight ... this is an interesting discovery because it may very well explain why I have been at 215 lbs forever ... it may not have been a stall; I was maintaining my weight based on consumption of calories at a maintenance level - at least, this is my working theory). Now I get a chance to see how my body responds when I am mindfully tracking and measuring according to the new level (1720). The suggested approach is low carbs (21.5 g), high protein (215 g), Fiber (43-54g) and fat (86g) per day. I have a sneaky suspicion that the higher protein approach may work better for me ... or maybe I am just hopeful? Either way, this approach is aligned with my experiment so I am going to give it a good try. Stay posted on my progress or the lack there of friends! Have a great day!

Good luck with that! I had absolutely no energy for a couple of days. I was in ketosis the week before last, but I think I might have gone out of it again. I have a bit more energy today. The sun is out. That could be why! LOL! Good luck with the new macros. I am curious to see how you do. My maintenance weight is around 1600! So I have to eat way less than you and I am still not losing. Today I am doing even less calories as an experiment.

Mom: Interestingly I found it hard to live up to my 1700 yesterday! When I checked I only had 1200 for the entire day yesterday. I was very busy and occupied, so eating was not at the forefront. I am trying to ensure that I eat at or close to my 1700. Time will tell if that is the "losing" number for me. If it doesn't work, I will have to tweak food and exercise some more. It is an intricate dance we do to find the WOE "sweet spot" for ourselves. It is not as simple as following any particular way of eating mindlessly ...we have to be involved, engaged and ready to tweak as we learn more. I have realized this since adopting low carb. I've also realized that no matter what formula I ultimately arrive at (and I am sure I will have to tweak even that as I get older) it won't be a perfect replica of any of the eating approaches out there. Whatever I do, will include "ish" .. so paleo-ish, atkins-ish, iifym-ish, etc. It's all about finding what works for each of us. It's not easy but I am up for the challenge!

Yep ... I am working on the very same 'ishes' as you are. LOL! Here's to the "ish"!

Whatever works for you is the way to go. I do the same "ish" kind of thing. I have found that high protein, low carbs does (or is) doing it for me right now. That may change. I've found it difficult to get my proteins so high, and keep the carbs in check but when I do I find that I'm fully satisfied and there are very few times I crave anything. Good luck on your journey - it's a lifetime process.

Thanks Lynn. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this works for me (at least for now).
