Gabbie1018's Journal, 05 January 2014

Weighed myself this morning and I am down 3.4 lbs so all my willpower is paying off. Very happy about that. It definitely fuels my fire to get the weight off once and for all. Ok now onto my vent...whoever wrote that we need to change our mindset from enjoying the taste of what we eat to one that thinks we are fueling our body with what we eat so that we make better choices is full of it! I know I will need to do this to lose the weight but humans are feeling, breathing and sensory driven beings. If I only ate what I needed to fuel my body I would be eating some of worst/least flavorful tasting food known to mankind. Now before I get a lot of people telling me that I can prepare the healthy food to make it taste better all I can say is blah blah blah blah. I am not a chef, I don't have the time and I really believe in most cases it isn't possible. I have just resigned my taste buds to not have as flavorful an experience when it comes to my eating and I am ok with that (ok lets be honest, maybe not ok but you know). Please don't be scared off by my vent I did get up on the right side of the bed this morning and I am truly positive person I just like to speak my mind every once in awhile.

So, I believe I made a healthy choice this morning for breakfast.I know these first two weeks of eating healthier will be the hardest as my body gets used to not being full alllllll the time but I have done it before and I can do it again. Now I just need to figure out what I want to make for dinner so I can stay on track.

Went to the grocery store and made really good choices. Still deciding on what to have for dinner now that the refrig and pantry are full.

Gabbie, your right. I won't eat anything that I don't like, just because its "good for me". There is always an alternative that is more palatable. I just make the healthiest choices amongst the foods that I do like, track them diligently in Fat Secret and pay close attention to my Macros (Carbs, Fiber, Fats, Protein) and try to live in balance. If were to eat solely based on "necessary fuel" we would be on the path to Soylent Green...LOL

Exactly TXSnowman..I am also paying close attention to my carbs, fats and protein. I keep an eye on my sugar intake in the evening. I find when I do that I have less headaches and less anxiety/agitation.

Gabbie you are absolutely right!! Don't let some of the FS ppl get to you...I think some get on here just to stir up drama. I am with you on the whole positive mindset AND that just because we are eating low calorie, low carb, or whatever everybody is doing doesn't mean we have to sacrifice flavor!! I didn't get to my peak of 242 by NOT liking flavorful foods! hahaha! I have found TONS of great recipes on Pinterest and pinned them to a board I call Healthy Recipes. It's a great place to start! Im on FS a lot so I will keep up with you and I hope you have a GREAT day!!! You CAN do this!!

Awesome Job on the weightloss!!!!!! Don't let it get you down. Healthy food can be tasty. XD Onion powder, garlic powder, lowery seasoning salt. Salt and pepper. Just those seasonings make all meat taste delicious. :) Even pre-cooked frozen chicken that you nuke. A bag of steamer veggies, and some rice and your done! Easy peasey. Pre-cook a big pot of rice on your day off then just portion it out over the week if you have to. All in all this should take about 10-12mins to nuke in the microwave and keep your meal in the 320-370 range. depending on portions. If I had to sacrifice flavor for 'healthy food' then I wouldn't be here. I enjoy my meals, and enjoy them more now because I know they're healthy and portioned right!

Don't be afraid to speak your mind. Sometimes people say things (I'm one of them) and don't realize it comes out a certain way. Or sometimes, it takes someone saying something in a certain way to make me think it out again. Nothing wrong with that! Gotta have big girl panties (and not size!) on--LOL. Trust me, the celery sticks, apples and carrots were not my first choice yesterday :) Hubby cooked a big breakfast for my daughter and I resisted. Yes, I'm drinking a cup of black coffee (caffeine), but that's my reward and I need it at this point! It beats eating the scrapple, sausage, eggs, toast and whatever else he cooked!
