A lot of people here do South Beach. I'm sure they can give you good advice. I just do my own thing.

My hubby lost 30lbs on that diet in one month! I lost 18 or something, Alot is water weight at first, but you do lose on the diet if you can stay away from those "nasty" carbs. I was on it for 4 yrs and got down to a sz 4 from a 16/18, but am now a 12 b/c I was going no carb practically and ended up super binging when I got off of the diet. You have to be pretty dedicated to the plan but it will work WONDERS for you if you are!

I do my own thing too, but it works really well if you can be a stickler...I do the no carbs at all Atkins for two weeks and then VERY slowly make the transition into South Beach. It gets things rev'd up and ready to go. I usually lose about a pound a day for the first couple of months, then things slow down as I add in more carbs. I really dont feel too cheated and the cravings are gone. Good luck!!

I have tried the South Beach diet and it worked for me but at the same time it was difficult for the first few weeks because of all the food restrictions. Now I do my own diet and exercise plan and it seems to be working, but if having a very structured diet works for you and you can stay away from the bad carbs you can do it!

I've followed the SB diet for the last year. I didn't do the first 2 weeks with no carbs and no fruit but I've lost almost 100 lbs and my blood results last week were super. Dr says I can cut meds in half and if I carry on like this I may be able to drop them all in about 6 months time. I only have 2 carbs a day and not 3 and I find it really easy to follow. If I can help in any way, mail me

It's a very sensible way of eating, not really anything to be scared of at all. Come on, jump in Brooke! :-)
