I read somewhere when the pain of being fat becomes more important than the taste of food, you will be ready to lose weight. Write down all the reasons why you want to lose weight and put them where you can see them daily. Write great quotes on sticky notes and put them all over the house. Make an "inspiration board" out of cork board (Walmart has cheap ones) and put pictures, recipes, quotes, etc, anything that inspires you on it. There's a book called "Becks Diet Solution" which teachers you how to deal with food. Check out the reviews on amazon or see if your local library might have it. It might help you. It shows you how to change your behaviors and way we think about food. Find a plan that fits in to your life that is sustainable for the long haul. Commit to watching your weight for the rest of your life. This time of year lot's of great fitness magazines come out. Get some and read for inspiration. Take a new exercise class or get some workout dvds. You can do them in the comfort of your own home and many are 30 minutes or less. If you are just beginning. Leslie Sansone has "Walk Away The Pounds" dvds which are great to start. You can even get some out of your local library. I wish I could tell you just take a magic pill, but losing weight is really hard work. Forgive yourself if you mess up and get back on track with the next meal (not the next day). Read up on fitness and nutrition. Get yourself excited about losing and trying new recipes. Some great sites: Emilybites.com, Cookinglight.com, Skinnytaste.com, Laaloosh.com, skinnykitchen.com,

Thank you Suzi! I will check into some of the sites and the dvd's. Maybe even make an inspiration board.

Low Carb, High (Natural) Fat. it is absolutely wonderful! I have lost almost 10 pounds in 10 days!! I lost over 3" off my belly already as well. Just cut out bread, pasta, sugar, rice, cereals, oats (grains in general) and most veggies that grow underground. Have fruit and nuts sparingly. Eat when you're hungry until you are satisfied, and don't eat when you're not hungry. You don't have to work out (which is why it is great for people who *can't* work out!) but it will go even faster if you do. Stay hydrated properly! Make sure you get plenty of natural fats (like oil, animal fat, fat in veggies - like avocados). Eat meats, fish, above-ground veggies, eggs, high-fat dairy (cheese, whole milk, heavy cream, sour cream, cream cheese, etc). It's not easy, but it is SO worth it!! You will feel so energized (provided you have enough fat in your diet! your body will use that for energy instead of the carbs!) and have a great over-all sense of well-being!

Wow that does sound hard. I have intersistial cystitis so pretty much all fruits, spicy foods, and caffiene are out of my diet. I'm gluten sensitive so pretty much all wheat is suppose to be out of my diet. I cheat and then end up not feeling good. So I guess what's left is pretty much meat and veggies. I've been eating candy to make up for that sweet tooth I have instead of the fruit I can't have. I've gained over 100 lbs in a year :( Thanks for your help girls! Yesterday I did really good at eating healthier. Today pretty good too. I guess it's one day at a time. I will be looking into some new recipes.

If you want something to fix a sweet tooth, I found that lactose-free whole milk tastes sweet (it has 1 gram of carbs more than regular whole milk, so its better than candy!). Heat it up and add a teaspoon or so of unsweetened cocoa powder, and you fool your brain into thinking you are having real hot cocoa. I don't go for all those unhealthy artificial sweeteners.
