Intermittent Fasting

There is always some fad diet out there. High carb/low fat, Low carb, paleo, SBD etc. What people should realize is that all diets are designed to do ONE thing... create a caloric deficit. if you eat nothing but cabbage, you probably aren't going to eat a ton of calories. Now I could talk about the benefits of cabbage, and the nutrients, and how it stimulates fat burning yadda yadda yadda, but in the end, eating cabbage creates a caloric deficit. There is NO diet known to make that allows you to lose weight without creating this deficit. That doesn't stop from trying to come close!

Low carb speaks to being able to eat all you want, to never being hungry, to the fat burning machine your body will become on a ketogenic diet. And all of that is pretty accurate to an extent. But low and behold the major benefit to a low carb diet for weight loss is that carbs are high in calories. Eliminating that macro group is more likely to reduce calories than any other macronutrient. Read up on the positives and you won't find this point being highlighted.

My point is I have decided to pick plans based on how effective I think they are at reducing calories, not all the other stuff, which has currently led me to intermittent fasting. There are many ways to do it, but I basically have an eating window, 1pm-6pm. I eat within that time frame and not outside of it. TRUST ME, it might burn fat, fasting might empty glycogen levels, fasting might release HGH, etc etc. But again the main benefit is that it is REALLY hard to eat as many calories in 5 hours or 6 or 8 as it is in 12-16. That's it. I do it with a low carb diet, which helps with hunger. So far the fat has been melting off of me, but we'll give it more time to find out.
