MY 60-DAY LIQUID FAST
Counting Down To My Slim Down
Day 57/60

Okay!

According to the CKD diet plan (a very low carb & calorie cycling plan), I am suppose to carb load on Saturdays which is TODAY! 70% of my calories are suppose to be carbs to refill my liver and muscle stores from doing a week on 500-600 calories of high protein and low carbs. I get it and this low carb diet plan makes sense to me but it scares me. I am afraid of it tripping a switch in my brain that says just keep eating.

Geez! It has felt good these last 2-3 days being in deep ketosis and watching my face get smaller. So, it’s with strange sadness that I go out and indulge. I love reading other peoples blogs and posts about approaching and getting into "onederland" and I keep thinking I'm so far away from that. I hit 200 my freshman year of college so I basically have not been in the 100's since I was 18 years old and I now am in my 40's! If I carb load it will take me in the other direction. But, I realize that it's a necessary step to recharge and train your body to release more fat after the load.

I feel really good today; really light. All the edema I have been experiencing in my ankles and knees is ALL GONE!!!! I can actually see my ankle bones. Hello ankle bones!!

For those that are curious, I am choosing to do high protein shakes (hence the name 60 day liquid protein fast) for my low carb days of eating; Sunday-Friday. My experience of eating low carb whole food has been digestively disastrous. I keep forgetting to supplement with fiber and I just have TROUBLE, to say it delicately, getting food out of my body. Liquid protein goes down easy, fills me up and digests like a dream.

Also, I did a gall bladder flush a few years ago before my first time on Atkins. The results were extreme to say the least. I ended up running to the rest room and sat there for the whole day. Ouch! I, needless to say, tend to shy away from anything close to a "cleanse" since then. But, I read a master-water-faster's blog about the need to do a salt flush when on a water/juice/liquid protein fast after a few weeks. It is simply 2 tablespoons of sea salt in a liter of water. I used hot Chicken Broth and made it my last "meal" yesterday. WATCH OUT! He said to drink it fast and wait 15 minutes. No kidding! The salt forces the intestines to "dump" its contents.

This might be the reason I feel so light today!! Hahaha!

I know, gross right, but it’s our bodies. Like it or not we are animals, high-minded yes, but still animals. I feel very connected to our cousin the bear during these cold winter days doing my low carb/low calorie fasting period. Like the bear's body composition, nature has given us the ability to carry around extra "food" in our fat stores to survive long periods of fasting.

So, let me fast it away .....I say.
