The scale is a demon! I know there is so many ways to measure success and I have experienced them and I am thrilled to have done so. But, lets face it, we want the scale to move. The challenge is not "lets fit in the tub" by Thanksgiving! I am exercising till it hurts, eating like a rock star and drinking so much water that I should be able to float into Thanksgiving and that little sucker of a scale does not budge. I know about muscle, salt, hormones, stress and all the other things going on but geesh! I still want to kick some stones in the dirt, call the scale a few obscenities, pout and ask why me. I am not going to go throw myself in a hot fudge sundae, I am still going to do the things I do but I want to be pissed off at the scale right now! And, I have the right!!!

I know your pain. Do what my husband does. Cuss it out. It will make you feel better.

As long as it's not going up, it's still your friend. :) Bask in all the wonderful new habits you have adopted and reassure yourself that, in time, the scale will move. Think of it as a savings account: The work you're putting in is building up interest, but it's so small of a percentage that it's not showing up yet. Before you know it you will see a return on your investment.

Scales are the devil....you know you are doing well and eventually it will catch up with that fact ;)

I just would like to say ditto to kkd1125 and also to say that you are doing everything correctly and the scale will submit. Try hard to just call it what it is...a tool.

I like the "tool" idea thought but I still plan on adding a few adjectives in front of it just because it is a "tool" from the devil. ;)

Its a tool alright~in the same sense as that jerk neighbor is a tool, or the guy that cut me off driving to work is a tool. And, you know what I like to do to those tools, I like to flip them off, cuss them out (in the safety of my car of course), tell them what an insensitive "tool" they are and then be on my merry way knowing that I did all the right things! So, I say, yes sister, you be pissed off at that scale, cuss it out so bad that you would make a sailor blush, even give it a swift kick if that makes you feel better. Then take a deep breath, exhale slowly and go about doing all the wonderful things you are doing for yourself to improve your health. I love you and I know and feel your pain! XOXO D

HELLO.... Look at your weight chart since August... it's trending DOWN! I see it's leveled off a bit of late, but that is totally to be expected. You saw another 10's digit off last week. Every time you get down another 10, you need to totally dance a jig for yourself! I can tell you from experience, you are experiencing one of the very normal struggles one has when one is trying to find a healthier version of herself. I only discovered FatSecret a week ago, but I have been on that slow, slow downward trend since 2009. And I HAD lost 103 pounds! I have been very ill this summer, and therefore rather sedentary, and along with a month of prednisone, that has had me in reverse for 15 pounds. DON'T LOSE HEART NOW! You've done a beautiful job on yourself over the summer! KEEP IT UP!

I believe your scale is offended. It tried to show you how much awesome muscle you're building and you just got mad at it. I think you owe someone an apology.

I was also getting frustrated at my WEEKLY weigh-in numbers which weren't always that good. So I made my own MONTHLY weight chart in Excel. The graph line is way more of a slant when seen this way and my monthly average loss over the past 9 months of weigh-ins is 4.7 lbs. So much nicer to see that than 0, .5 or 1 lb. week by week. Try it, it can give you a whole new perspective on your progress.
