Did fine w/ my eating over the weekend. Holding steady, which is a good thing. Had most of my carbs from veggies...which I love, so also a good thing. Helped my son w/ a successful bake sale after church yesterday! He made about $100 towards their Missions Trip at the end of the year :) Mom's blood work numbers are back in the theraputic range, which is a great thing! Got to see my daughter this weekend - also a great thing!!! Been a little moody lately, which I am writing off to perimenopause (now two months w/out my TOM)...which for those that remember, this is on the heels of two months of having my TOM - so I'll take the break!!! All in all, feeling strong, happy, and ready to take on a new week. Hoping to get a lot of prep done for the upcoming holidays. Cleaning like a mad woman always lifts my spirits! Love.

Nice job. WOW, $100. is wonderful. Where will they go on their missions trip? Congrat's to mom's numbers. Sounds like you had an over-all great week-end. I love my veggies also, but I really have a hard time with lettuce. I also love my fruits, which I am introducing back in slowly. I had a half an apple yesterday and it was really sweet to me, but sure tasted great. You keep up the great work and your encouraging words are worth millions. Have a wonderful day and keep smiling and coaching us. We need that, well, I know I do.:)

Laurie - I read somewhere that it is best to eat fat or protein w/ a naturally sweet carb...such as fruit. Whole cream, or low sugar natural peanut butter...like to dip them in. It helps overall w/ your metabolism of them and the insulin reactions internally. - As for the missions trip...they are going over to Hawaii to work with a group called Y.W.A.M. (Youth With A Mission). They will be working on low income housing, youth shelters (for battered women w/ kids), and several visits to Youth Groups w/in already existing churches. My son is 16 1/2, and has been involved w/ YWAM since he was 13, and LOVES IT. He has already said he wants to go to college to become an engineer, and then out into the missions field to work with communities that can use his talents. He's quite the kid! Thanks for asking!

Paula, great success with the bake sale. How did the turkey go over? Did you get a pic? As for the veggies, mmmmm, I love veggies. I had zucchini, salad, tomato, and spinach yesterday. Sounds like an awesome mission trip. My 22 year old son went on his first one this year as a leader for the youth at our church and had a blast. They went to Cincinnati and did community work. He worked at clearing the woods at a thereutic horsemanship ranch, and got to drive a bobat, which made his week. lol It's the little things, right? Your son sounds awesome. Congrats on raising such a caring young man! Glad that thye got your mom's numbers back to where they should be.

Which island is he going to? My daughter goes on mission trips to Mexico, though she is dying to do one in Africa!

My oldest daughter went to Kenya on a missions trip...had the experience of a lifetime! My son is going to ... not sure... don't know which island the YWAM base is on ??? (good thing to find out!) The middle son went to Washington DC on a missions trip. He was most impressed w/ the poverty surrounding some of our nations capitol. It all looks so amazing on television - Capitol Hill, The White House...well, some of the inner city, or metro region around DC, is basically slums. A lot of his pictures looked surprisingly like a lot of the pictures from Africa. (all 3 of my kids have a sense of being blessed and wanting to give to others a helping hand...you never know why you were born to a certain family or a certain set of circumstances, but they are not selfish kids or spoiled...they are fun loving and adventurous and genuinely compassionate.) Stef - working at that ranch sounds fantastic! What's a bobat?
