Pugcrazy's Journal, 25 August 2013

I'm getting nervous. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I have avoided going to my primary doctor for 16 months. I think I am still heavier than I was the last time I saw him. I have printed my journal and my weight history to show him that I am seriously working to get healthy. I am really concerned about the labwork that I have to have done tomorrow. I know that my cholesterol will be high and my iron will be low (Lupus causes me to stay anemic), but I am concerned how the rest will come out. I hope my Lupus is remaining in remission as I will not take any more steroids. I don't know this doctor very well as my doctor of more than 20 years retired due to the rising cost of practicing(thank you very much ObamaCare) and I have only seen this doctor 3 times. I just did not go when I started ignoring my health and weight. I had no real illnesses so I just skipped the annual last year, but since I am trying to get healthier I figured i better go to the doctor for a checkup. I'm hoping that it will go well.

Hi, you go to your appointments and know that the reason you are going is to improve. Don't fear your checkup, just know that you are doing this no matter what the docs say to make yourself healthier. We are all on the same page here. Going to our doctors and getting the results of what we need to work on. Go to your doc and know that anything that is said you are going to work hard to make yourself better.

I know Doctors appear intimidating but they're just people too. You've made the decision to become healthier, and have done amazingly well thus far, that's something to be proud of! There's always room for improvements no matter what the goal, no matter what walk of life you're from. Look at this check up as a means to set short term goals and remember you're paying him/her to be your doctor, YOU are ultimately in control! Go to your appointment and hold your head high! You have done amazingly well! be proud of yourself!

I attend appointments for my Ward's at work every week. It is not really the doctor that I am afraid of, although I know he is going to be irritated that I have not been in for 16 months. My real concern is what the lab work is going to show about my Lupus and overall health that I have been avoiding for over a year.
