I got to run outside today with my husband and our little girl. Boy, I forgot how different running outside is from running on the treadmill. YIKES. I did have to take a few breaks, but all-in-all my body held up pretty well. My lungs had some issues, but I tried to work through those. My right hamstring is a little tight, so I'm going to ice it down after Abby is in bed. I'm really going to miss these wonderful warm sunny days when winter comes. That's why we went out tonight. Trying to get the last bits of warmth and sunshine.

I usually gett really bummed out in winter. My doctor told me it is called SADS. Sun Acquired Deficiency Syndrome. (sorry about the spelling) In other words, I really need sunshine!!!! But this winter, I am determined to NOT gain weight!!! I finally have 2 pair of jeans that fit, and I'm not giving them up!!!

Well, tomorrow is our annual Pumpkin Festival. I can't wait. They have all kinds of stuff to do there for kids, and I think Abby is finally old enough to do them. Like hay rides, pumpkin painting, petting zoo, fishing, and jumping in the moon bouncer. For the adults, there are ALL KINDS of crafts, entertainment, and unfortunately food. Everywhere there is FOOD, CANDY, FUDGE, COOKIES, etc....... So, I have decided to have lunch at the house before we go to the festival. Wish me luck to not fall into temptation.

Well, I hope you all have a great Friday, and a wonderful weekend. Here in SW PA it looks like it's going to be a great weekend for fall leaves. Sunshine and close to 80 degrees F. Get out there and check them out! We'll be on the bike trails Sunday. I can't wait.

Your Pal,
Julie ;-)

I know what you mean about the treadmill. If you have to do treadmill due to weather conditions, or whatever, keep it on at least 1% incline at all times. The transition between treadmill and outside will be better. But, as far as walking? I don't do all of my long runs straight running. Don't you feel bad about that! Give them legs some time to recuup! My Run/Walk routine is 6 miles/hour for 13 minutes, then 3 miles/hour walking for 2 minutes over and over. I don't get tired for at least 3 hours. I always bring a snack with me and plenty of liquids. Whatever it takes: JUST DO IT! It's an awesome feeling...and I have heard that over, and over, and over, and...it's got to be true! Furthermore, long runs like that give us opportunity to give in to temptation: just a bit, don't you know? Keep up the good work!

That's a good BWW! Eating before the festival is a GREAT plan! And since it's a Fall festival, no-one will look at you funny if you are chomping on an apple while you're there. Fair food is unhealthy! Hey - maybe that can be your topic for the cruise mini challenge! :) Great job on getting that run in and enjoying the warm weather and sunlight! Can you get one of those special lamps to help you with the SAD?

I will make a purposeful effort to post something on the Cruise to Lose challenge forum about SAD. I have never been to a doctor for a diagnosis but I am very down in the winter months. I go to work during the dark and come home in the dark. That light thearapy sounds marvelous! I try to compensate some by lying in the tanning bed but my skin gets all leathery! What's a woman to do! HA! SMILE!

Hope the festival eating went well! If not, just run a few more miles:) I totally understand the SADS. We don't have alot of overcast weather here but when we do have it for a week or so, everyone is grouchy and out of sorts. I can't imagine living with it for months.
