I am trying my best to stop jumping on the scales until next Saturday.

Feeling quite pleased with myself that I actually enjoyed a black cup of coffee without cream, caffeine or sweeteners. This was something I thought I would never be able to do. But I've learnt something today; it isn't the way the coffee is made that I was scared of losing, but it is that lovely moment at the start of the day where I curl up on my sofa and just muse for 10 or 15 minutes. This morning I had my moments with a black cup of decaff coffee and guess what - the world didn't morph into chaos!

I'm now counting total carbs, eating 3 meals a day and I'm going to have 2 snacks.

John's feeling really happy today, he is wearing a pair of new jeans that he has had for a couple of years - they are new because he couldn't fit into them before. Also he's having to wear a belt to hold them up. He's been in shorts for 6 months, but the weather is turning a little cold in the mornings, hence the jeans.

Oh Jen that is awesome new for both you and John. I am so proud of you and no the world doesn't come to an end and if we really want to feel better and look AWESOME, we must do this for US.:) I use to be a huge coffee drinker(5-7 cups/day) with sugar & milk(2 1/2 teaspoons of sugar, that is) and now I am down to 2 cups, 1st one with cream and splenda and 2nd one with nothing. It's really not that bad. You also have something working in your favor. That is John is in it with you. Your not alone. In my household, I am the only one doing it, but others are learning to like my Atkins foods. Yea Me!!!!!! I do most of the cooking and I have decided that the foods are going to be made my way and if they don't like it, then they can make something they want. Guess what? They are all liking my foods. HAHAHAHA on them. You have a wonderful day and do what works for you folks.:)

Thanks for your lovely comment, it is nice to have someone who understands the meaning of 'coffee' lol. That is great that you have said to your family they can make their own food if they don't like yours and that they are now actually liking your food. That is a great gift you are teaching your family, to be aware of what they are putting in their mouths. Funny how people are though with success, John spoke to his sister this morning on Skype, when she knew his good news about his weight, she and her husband acted very strange.... if we didn't know them well I'd have said they were being bitchy. They have always been health concious and I really do feel they are feeling threatened..... it's a funny old world! You have a great day and a brilliant week to come :)

congrats jen, i have cut my coffee down from 4-5 to 1 cup also, I was thinking of the decaf thing this morning, but why is it so much more expensive??????? I have cut down the sweetner, from 4 splenda to 2 1/2, now I got the liquid form and use 3/4 of a serving. Slowly decreasing the cream too, less than a tbs, use the rest to fluff my eggs. congrats to your hubby too, keep up the good work

I have at times been completely off of any form of caffeine, but am not sure I am going to give it up. I have cut down on the amount of coffee I drink to 2 cups in the morning, with one Splenda split between the two cups. I am so proud of you for being able to do it black and decaf....You are well on your way to a great success!

Thanks everyone for your kind encouragement. But this morning you should have seen my face, to cool the coffee a bit I put a splash of bottled water in it. Uhhhh the water was gassed and made the coffee horrid lol. Wont do that again.
