I think I might stop counting calories because when I do I feel more obliged to eat unhealthy foods! Has anyone else found this?

The calorie counter is more or less accurate. I have found that on occasion it overestimates, other times it underestimates, so in my book, it evens out. I find that writing down everything I eat and counting the calories actually helps, I feel embarrassed for myself to reach for that chocolate bar.

I certainly find that. My wife and I are both trying to loose weight, which means I am generally eating the same calories as she is, which means I often have 300 - 600 Calories left at the end of the day. Being allowed 500 calories more as a man is great! but it does make snacking in the evening or having an ice cream all too tempting! Also my wife uses a different calorie counting app, both of which are generally within a couple of calories of each other and any packets.

I've never had that I was eating unhealthy foods because of counting calories. The opposity actually! At some point I started obsessing about calories so much, that I even felt guilty about eating an extra apple. So I gave up counting. And with time weight came back, because it's really easy to lose track of your diet and not notice how your old habbits start coming back. So here I am, back to counting. Just trying to go easy on myself this time. I guess what I am trying to say, is use calorie counting as a tool to reach your goal instead of trying to reach the calories (they are not the goal!). Try to concentrate on eating healthy. Maybe in order to avoid those evening snacks, try increasing your portions during the day a bit. This way you will still eat those extra 500 calories, but hopefully of something healthier. Plus larger portions will keep you fuller :)

Yes it happens, counting calories oblige you to count them and not go over the limit, so then you can have a beautiful dinner of Pringle’s chips and ice cream lunch. So I don’t buy any type of snacks at all. If I don’t have them at home i won’t even want them. Life doesn’t seem that bright after but it totally helps eating healthier 😂

quite the opposite, counting all the calories has shown me how much I take in unhealthy snacks

Try it for a week and if you find it doesn’t work get back to calorie counting. X

I prefer to count calories, even if it isn't dead accurate it's better than a complete guess 🤔

What works for me is looking at the calories and the fat content.....that kinda holds me back a little 🤦‍♀️
