The biggest obstacle i have is finances. Eating meat or eggs for every meal is EXPENSIVE. I worry if i will have enough money to sustain this way of eating long term. a slice of toast or a sausage roll for breakfast was a LOT cheaper. Never mind.
The other issue is the utter lack of controlled carb products here in NZ.
Goddamn our small population.
Retailers /importers just wont import specialty products for a fringe group. I loved doing Atkins in USA, you could get everything there.
Maybe in the bigger city you could find some products, but remember, our largest city is only 1 mill strong! You beginning to see the problem? Otherwise it come back down to money and the EXORBITANT prices they slap on for these specialty fringe products.

Hi Sassy! if you're worried about money, maybe it's better if you can't get the carb controlled products - those seem to be really expensive! could be a blessing in disguise... My "cheap eat" meals are: canned tuna with lots of mayonaise, Straciatella (egg and parmesan soup) or egg salad. This recipe works for any big piece of meat: turkey breast, beef roast, pork roast or whole chicken In a crock pot, mix a can of condense cream of mushroom/chicken soup and one packet dried Lipton onion soup mix. Add big piece of meat. Cook on low all day (on high if the meat is frozen) I always get compliments and it's an easy way to use whatever meat is on sale.

But Isn't "can of condense cream of mushroom/chicken soup and one packet dried Lipton onion soup mix" really, really high in carbs?

I was just going to say the same thing, I used to use them prior to atkins, just read the packet of lipton soup mix when I made a roast, it was A LOT of carbs. For the roast I used a can of diced tomato, beef stock, onions and celery. Then when it was done, I took the onions with some stock and blended it in the food processor to make gravy for my non-atkins partner, and did the same with the celery for me. It thickened the sauce with healthy carbs and was really tasty. But I agree, as for cost, I eat a lot of chicken, tuna is cheap and good with pork rinds, noticed someone else eating vienna sausage, ground beef is usually cheaper than other cuts of meat. Personally I dont buy the low carb products, 1 because they dont have them here, I live on a small island, and 2 I think its better just to eat whole foods instead of the processed stuff. I eat lots of eggs, a roast chicken every week, other proteins and veggies. good luck
