Bacon, Bacon, Bacon, and some more Bacon!

Today was a little hard. I really really wanted to cheat but I didn't! I ate too much bacon this morning and it made me feel sick....my eyes were bigger than my stomach. So I didn't eat anything for lunch b/c I felt so gross most of the day from the bacon.

My house smells like bacon and I dont know how to get it out. I am going to be cooking it a lot on this diet and I hate the smell it leaves in the house....does anybody have a good idea on how to get the smell out once your done cooking?

Depending on the slice of the bacon, each slice is 6-12 grams of protein. You don't really need a lot to get you going in the morning. Don't overdo it because it is a lot of salt and that can make you retain water. It helps to keep the overhead fan on the stove going, get a splash guard, keep windows and doors open while you cook. Then incense, I guess. I don't mind the smell. Otherwise try making it in the microwave. They have special trays for cooking bacon in the micro.

Wait, wait, wait... your house smells like bacon and that's a bad thing? Man, I'm sad right now because my house *doesn't* smell like bacon. I'm just teasing, but I don't know any secrets to getting the smell out.

A good alternative is turkey bacon. Some people don't like it 'cause it's not bacon, bacon, but it's not bad, and it doesn't leave a stinky bacon smell. Other than that learn to embrace your porky friend--bacon is good. Perhaps you can tell yourself that that bacon smell is the sweet smell of success!

I love bacon too. Downside is the smell, true. But what I do is cook a couple pounds at a time and leave most in the fridge. When it's time to serve myself some more, 30 seconds in the microwave takes care of that. (One thing about bacon is the high oil content makes it heat evenly and quickly). More or less, I suggest cooking it once a week to alleviate the smell issue. Years ago when I had previously used Atkins to great success, I had been traveling form my company and staying in hotels every day. I think the hotels HATED me as I took along my George Foreman and cooked daily in my room. It didn't seem so bad at the time unless you left the room and came back 5 minutes later...wow the greaswe hung in the air for days.

I'm doing South Beach which is a LITTLE BIT like Atkins in SOME ways. But I have been eating small portions of LEAN meat for so long -- since June -- that I can not imagine preparing bacon. If it appeared wrapped around a filet mignon - I suppose I would not remove it. There is one thing for certain - the dieting process is a LEARNING process. Keep the faith!

Cook the full amount and put fridge. Yankee candle in kitchen should help
