Stupid me. In hindsight... I haven't been hungry and my performance in the gym has been suffering. Dumb dumb dumb.
For nearly 2 months I haven't really lost any weight despite working out 4-5 days a week. Killing myself at BodyPump (similar to P90X) 2-3 times a week and lifting heavy a couple times a week. That's not even counting the pushup/pullup/situp routine I do at home. I was careful about my nutrition but, I realize now, too low. I was eating between 1200-1600 calories a day. At first, of course, the weight came off fast but eventually slowed and then stopped.
I upped my calories in the last week and suddenly realize that I'm hungry again! I'm probably in the 1600-1900 range. I was mistaking my empty feeling of needing food for hunger. I'm guessing I completely shut down prior to this since the first day at the gym after eating more I felt like a new man. All my lifts felt easier, I had more stamina, and didn't feel so completely trashed after the workout. Wow.
I was expecting to see a weight gain from the increase in calories but I believe the trend is reversing since I'm under 220 again. Prior to this week I was having a hard time breaking it.
I hope my rambling epiphany helps someone else. You are your own best critic so don't be afraid to experiment! Good luck!
