Last night was a little tough. My husband made quesadillas. I think I need to quit buying Costco's tortillas (as they are inexpensive there) and start buying whole wheat tortillas. I couldn't bring myself to say "you know dear...I don't want to eat white flour so I can't have that." It's my own fault for having the white flour tortillas in the house. That's something I need to make a change of. I only had one, though.
Tonight is going to be a challange for me, as well. It's our monthly "date night". No kids for the entire night. Usually, we enjoy a few alcoholic drinks together while making a high carb, high fat meal. I had intended to go do something, like bowling or a haunted house, but finances are tight and decided against that. I need to think of a nice low carb dinner that we can make, maybe seafood, and have some sort of sugar free alcoholic beverage available. My goal has been to not drink during the week, at all, and only allow myself one night a week to enjoy 1 or 2 drinks. That's a big accomplishment for me and I've managed to follow through. We used to have a drink or two EVERY night... I think I'll try to make some sugar free mojitos tonight.

Have you thought about eating the Ezekiel Bread tortillas? They are a sprouted wheat and I get them at a local health food store, though I have seen them in our local grocery ( Kroger or Meijer ). They would be worth a try.

Woo-Hoo!! Date night! :) P-cubed... = plan, plan, plan. =D 1. Plan a great tasting meal, that is not only good tasting, but also good for you. Maybe include a yummy ourderve, to keep your mouth happy while you're cooking. :) 2. Plan your drink of choice ahead of time. Great idea to plan for a sugar free drink! Maybe premixing them ahead of time would help so there is a premeasured amount made, so you wouldn't be tempted to have more than you want to. 3. Plan the rest of your evening fun, like maybe a movie you would not be able to watch with the kids there or listening to music together. A well thought out night will roll off without a hitch and have less of a chance to "slip" on something that you'd rather not. :) It's important that you have a great night and not feel guilty about having a fun time! Have a great night!

When we want to splurge but not totally cheat, we like to go to Logan's Steakhouse (don't know if you have one where you live). They have roasted peanuts set on the table, we snack on those, tell them not to bring the delicious yeast rolls, order a nice steak and they always have good veggies and salads. We get to eat a great meal with out any carbs but feel like we have had something naughty! Also, don't know what you like to drink, but when I really want a drink but don't want to consume all the sugar, I order or have at home(so much cheaper) rum and diet coke or with Sprite Zero. Pretty good and gets the job done!! haha. You could do it with any whisky or drink you like. But also, date nights don't come along everyday so just have FUN!! Don't stress on it, do the best you can and do even better tomorrow!
