Delacroix's Journal, 18 August 2008

Well, let's try this again.

I have failed to lose weight every time I've tried, regardless of what I try. Yet I'm so unhappy with my appearance and how I feel that just surrendering to being fat and the endless process of buying bigger clothes is not acceptable even if perhaps inevitable.

This weekend I began reading "Releasing Fat." It is interesting so far, and is along the lines of other books I've read, such as "Good Calories Bad Calories," that focus on the role of certain carbohydrates in contributing to weight gain through their effect on blood sugar.

I know that when I started following the governmental-endorsed program of a low-fat, high-carb diet, I began putting on weight rapidly. But there are other factors at play also, including my advancing age, reduced activity, and poor eating habits, primarily in the form of too much alcohol consumption, which has its own range of deleterious consequences.

So away we go. Perhaps keeping a public journal will help me.
