Dave Van Horn's Journal, 26 January 2020

So my weight has been see-sawing back and forth now for some time. By July of last year I was down to 245 lbs. Most of my weight loss at that time was due to stress as I moved, sold my home of 50 years and purchased again closer to my son. I did this because my wife had been so sick and I wanted her and him to be able to spend more time together in her final days. I lost her in October and the depression set in and I started gaining weight again. I went all the way up to 267 as of Monday the 13th. I started a new Keto diet with intermittent fasting and a considerably reduced caloric intake (less than 1200 daily) less than 30 carbs daily. Since the 13th, I have lost 13 lbs. I'm sure a lot of that is water weight but there is definitely a loss of fat involved in that number.

Diet Calendar Entry for 26 January 2020:
1703 kcal Fat: 114.36g | Prot: 106.76g | Carb: 24.18g.   Breakfast: Regular Coffee, Egg Omelet. Lunch: Ultra Pure Gold, Beef, Mediterranean Style Chicken Breast Kabobs. Dinner: Ultra Pure Gold, Keto Cheesecake Fluff, Fathead Pizza. more...

I'm glad you are closer to your son now, so you won't be as lonely. You are already almost back to 245 and then you can start losing again! Gaining weight under those circumstances is to be expected, so don't beat yourself up about it! It's a fresh start for you. I wish you all the success in your journey!

Hi Dave. I'm a widow, and I'm so sorry for your loss of your dear wife and your ongoing pain. I hope that being closer to your son is also of some comfort to you now. You were a wonderful husband to make that move for his mother and to care for her through her illness. May you find some moments of peace in 2020. {{{hugs}}}

Sorry to hear about your wife. Great that you are taking care of yourself like this. I am keto and enjoy it. Waterweight first is normal for most diets

So sorry you lost your wife. That is terribly painful. Looking after her was likely hard and difficult. Now you can turn your efforts toward your own health. I hope you are able to enjoy the journey! Good luck and much success ahead.
