In December I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic and took the two day course through the local hospital about how to deal with that in the hopes of avoiding medication or at least postponing it as long as possible. Since then (well actually after Christmas which is always a bad eating time for me...) I have been following some of the rules of the low-glycemic food index, trying to make sure I get fewer of the really bad carbs. I also started supplementing my diet with PGX before at least some of the bigger meals as this product, invented at the University of Toronto and originally aimed at assisting diabetics, helps get carbs out of your system without being digested and thus cranking up the whole insulin cycle. It's extremely efficient fibre of some sort apparently. Have not been dieting in any regimented way. Decided all these regimes just make me want to eat more. But the weight seems to be coming off. Slowly .... sigh... but still. 23 pounds in 7 months is no crash diet but on the other hand, this I can do. Not feeling deprived
