16-year throwback. DP found this pic on the left from 12/09/03 and I thought it would be neat to post a comparison. 22 years old vs. 38 years old. I've been at this for a long time. Maybe 165 pounds vs. 185. Only 20 pounds. Seems low but every pound is a struggle when you're natural. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I wasn't sure if I made any leg progress from my early 20s after some back injuries but it looks like leg pressing only is doing the trick.

You are amazing, Diablo! The amount of work to create those muscles naturally must be crazy hard. A question, did the work you did in the past create a foundation to allow growth more than someone who was not extremely fit and powerful when they were younger?

Yes, I believe that starting young will make the process faster. Even if you lose it as you age, I did when I injured myself, muscle memory will make regaining it much quicker. And thanks!

Proof of the difference that years of training can make. I agree, about leg presses. I don't put a lot of weight on my back. At my age, I'm in it for the long run. Lounges finish things off nicely on off days...

Thanks, DP, Rosio, Yoga, and John! Yep, no need to do anything that may compromise your lifting years when we don't even compete in powerlifting.

Great progress! And even your first pic, you are probably on the top 1% percentile. What can I say, amazing dedication and consistency :) I hope you are proud of yourself because you should.

The vast majority quite gym after making a family or getting into business or just getting older. You did not. That is even more amazing than your impressive physique.
