You have made two huge commitments and you are on your way to completing them both. Very good work. Better food choices, lower carbs and portion control helps build great habits.

That is an incredible milestone. People who deal with alcohol addiction have a real tough road to walk. It is so easy to ascribe alcohol with the power to banish uncomfortable feelings, to ease social situations and to be apart of celebrating or grieving. Good for you to be able to say one full year of living is under your belt and during that time you have not reached for alcohol to cope with whatever life threw at you. Congratulations!!

Hi I'm a friend of Bill w are you? I was so happy to see your post. Drinking puts on the pounds. It's not hard to eat healthy when you really try. I keep my 1/2 cup measuring cup out for all my veggies. When I have a sweet potato, I only eat half and I try to keep the meat lean and no more than 6 oz. I've been told by my doctor to eat 1300 calories a day so I took it upon myself to go down to 1200 and so far it's been working. Good luck hunny you are doing great.

clairsheart- I don't think I know the same Bill as you. I am originally from Iowa and have now lived in Maine for the last 12 yrs. My Dr. had also put my on a calorie but at 1500. I have found that for me to loose weight I need to be lower than that. I am having luck with around 1100-1200. Put I have also noticed that if I bounce it around abit (uping it up to 1400 for few days or so then back down) also works for me too. Other wise the same as you meat 4oz. to 6oz and veggies 1/2c. Thank you for your comment you are also doing great.
