What I have changed in the last four months:

The way it was:
I exercised MAYBE once a week.
The way it is now: I move my body EVERY DAY. I go to the gym, the pool or for a walk.

The way it was: I ate out at least once a day.
The way it is now: I cook at home almost every day. I'm learning new recipes, experimenting with new foods, and I'm having a good time doing it.

The way it was: I flossed my teeth when I got something stuck in them.
The way it is now: I floss every single night.

The way it was: I never took vitamins.
The way it is now: I take a multi-vitamin and fish oil every day.

The way it was: I had no schedule for cleaning.
The way it is now: I have "chores" that I do each day and devote a couple half days to completing the once a week items. I stick with this schedule pretty well.

The way it was: I was really bad at keeping in touch with friends.
The way it is now: I make an effort to call or send a note to the people I no longer see every day.

The way it was: I ate whatever was "there".
The way it is now: I make healthier choices about my food.

The way it was: I ate a lot of food with many chemicals in them.
The way it is now: I eat mostly whole foods and avoid all preservatives and additives.

The way it was: I weighed in when I went to the doctor.
The way it is now: I weigh every day.

The way it was: My shirts (size 24/26) were tight. I wore 2XL-3XL t-shirts and size 24 jeans.
The way it is now: I wear the same size shirts but they are really loose. I can fit in my hundreds of XL t-shirts. I wear size 18 jeans comfortably.

The way it was: I never took care of my skin.
The way it is now: I give myself a pedicure a couple times a week. I apply lotion to my entire body when I get out of the shower. I wear sunscreen religiously (okay, I did that one already - I'm so white I'm almost clear!!!). I put gooey things under my eyes because I'm getting older and it's time to care!!!

I have come a long way in four months. It isn't just about dieting. It's about changing my life. I can do this.

Excellent list! I think you just gave a brilliant way for everyone to better their lives, physically and mentally. I can relate to so many of them and at the end of the day its all about becoming proactive, which you certainly have done! Well done!

I understand this journal completely. When you take control of one part of your life, choosing to be healthy, etc. you begin taking control of other things as well. It's silly but an example for me is I'd sometimes leave dirty dishes in the sink. I rinse every single dish after I use it and run the dishwasher every single day. I've become less lazy since taking control.

heh great list. I should think of the differences in myself. I like your comment about being so white you're almost clear. I say that ALL THE TIME about myself. Although I do have a tan going on at the moment. ;) But I still wear sunscreen. The clothing is the big difference for me. I went from 2xl shirts to mostly mediums and some larges. My pants were around 18/22. I am now in 12/14s *wee* Do you have a ped egg? You mentioned Pedicures. I love mine! I am probably getting a professional mani/pedi tomorrow but thats just because I got a gift certificate for mothers day that I still haven't used and it's almost fathers day. lol

I LOVED your journal! You always manage to inspire me lil' missy! Your list of improvements is something we all need to see! WE get so stuck on whether or not we lost a pound, gained a pound, ate too many calories or not enough, etc. That's not even what's important, is it? Thank you for the reminder! hugs to you!

RIGHT ON! Skin, dishes, teeth, walking . . . THAT'S why they say youth is wasted on the young! 'Cause we learn SOOOO much as we get . . . uh . . . more experienced!
