ok so this is my first journal entry. I have been trying to lose weight since January. So far I have lost aprox. 30 lbs and im felling alot better since i have lost the weight. I just had my first born, Luka, back in early september and was doing well until about 6 weeks after and i gained all my pregnancy weight back. so now im back at where i started before i even got pregnant with another 40-60 lbs. left to go. I think the hardest thing for me with the weight loss is keeping a schedule for exercising and keeping away from the sweets. When i do get a junk food craving i try to go more for fruit though it usually ends up in a pepsi or chocolate. I have cut back quite a bit, but i would like to limit it still to little or none. Anyone have any advice?

It's hard. I lost about 60 pounds in 2008 and I have gained almost all of it back. I am a teacher and just during this past school year, I gained 40 pounds. I am trying get back to where I was and then lose a little more. I'm hoping this challenge will motivate me and help keep me on track. Journaling EVERYTHING helped me. I wrote down everything I ate and everytime I exercised. Seeing it on paper helped me to evaluate what I was doing well and what needed work. I did it on paper because that was always available, I couldn't always get ont he computer. I filled up 6, yes SIX notebooks losing the 60 pounds. I also wrote how I felt, things that happened, etc.

You're already doing a great thing, your starting somewhere. You recognize that you're a sucker for sweets (in the beginning i struggled really badly there). All you can do is be self-aware and make the changes as you see them. You can't change your habits in one day! So don't be hard on yourself. For sweet attacks, I like to have little Hershey kisses around. And if I'm really craving sweet then i eat one Hershey kiss. You just got to find your sweet in a small bite size that you can limit your intake of. If you buy a candy bar you'll feel the need to finish it. But if you have to open each candy one at a time, like the little Dove candies, you'll be less likely to eat a lot of them. Or at least that is working for me.
