Lotus's Journal, 02 June 2008

Sorry I haven't journaled in as while,,I've been busy and stressed with all this moving crap. I gained a little during my "experiment" to see how many calories I could get away with..mainly because I kept gradually increasing them, and then got really stressed one day and ate a ton of junk, more than I even recorded.
Although my weight is already back to normal, I have developed a nasty thrush infection on my tongue which showed up after several days of eating rather high levels of sugar. It hurts a lot and my taste buds are all out of whack. I am having a lot of other symptoms too, stuffy head, headaches, dizzy, sick at my stomach, no energy, just generally miserable.
Because it is a form of yeast infection I am supposed to be staying away from sugar and refined carbs, anything with yeast in it or mold(peanut butter, even cheese). It sucks. I did really good for three days then I went nuts yesterday and ate not only way too much sugar and carbs but too much calories in general. I think I am going to have to meet somewhere in the middle with this anti-yeast diet. The actual candida diet allows no grains at all.
Well I am keeping my Fiber one and oatmeal thank you very much.
I am going to shoot for about 150 or so carbs a day which is about 100 grams less than my normal intake. I noticed it was going away when I was eating less carbs, and this morning, after having a bunch of sugar, it is visibly worse and painful. I am calling the doctor to make an appointment today, this is miserable.
The worst is not being able to taste right. It takes all the fun out of life to me! Sad but true.
Well, the scale was up today from yesterday, of course, but I will have down again soon with this evil diet HAVE to try to follow. I may not be able to be as strict as I should be, but I will do my best. After seeing how much worse my tongue looks this morning I am more motivated to do better.

Glad to hear you are getting to the doc, ... they can be nearly really hard to treat without the meds. I'm sure that you'll have no troubles in recovering and getting back on track! :)

I am ever so confused. Some sites say whole grains are ok, some say berries are ok, some say no beans, they all conflict each other!! I get that i need to keep my sugar levels low and no yeast. Why is there so much conflicting information?? I am getting frustrated. i don't think I can stick with the strictest version, which is for chronic candida, which this is NOT(i hope!), it is similar to atkins, and you all know how i feel about BLAHTKINS. No that is not a typo. :)

oh lotus, thats bad news, sorry you are suffering! glad you are going to the doc, sometimes you can't diagnose yourself because there is too much on the web. take some data tho to show the doc and you can really discuss your diet!!! i am sure dr will help you find the correct foods for you (w/out gaining lol) good luck w/ it.

If the thrush is in your mouth it is probably quite severe candida. Most adults don't get thrush. Maybe a yeast infection after a round of antibiotics but not mouth thrush. I used to work for a naturopathic Dr and afer reading your journals it seems pretty clear that you probably have candida from consuming a bit to much sugar (Birth control and anti biotics can contribute as well). That will also cause the out of control binging you've talked about. Sugar feeds candida so your body craves it. You may want to do a candida cleanse. It would clear up your tongue and tone down your sugar cravings too. I have some things I can reccommend you if you're interested. Hope you feel better, I know that it's pretty painful...

Today is another bust..gave in AGAIN to carbs at about 3. Stress just makes this so much harder. I was told this morning that we are moving TOMMORROW instead of later in the week, so I have been packing like a madwoman, and eating cereal, ice cream and peanut butter along the way!! I am convinced I do not have the willpower to handle moving andf stick to a low carb diet at the same time!!

Good Luck with the move. It's so hard to stick to a diet when you're THAT stressed and moving, especially on short notice, is always awful..
