08willbegreat's Journal, 20 May 2008

As predicted, better day today.

First of, thanks to the brave souls--my wonderful buddies--who managed to read through my super-long journal yesterday. I appreciate your taking the time out to read and comment! Yesterday was a transition day, so I had to get all that in...today's been a NEW BEGINNING of sorts.

So, as planned, last night I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning and got some work done. Woke up at 10 am (total 3 hours of sleep) and worked out for over an hour. 30 mins. treadmill (4 run intervals, 178K), and free weights (8-12 pds, biceps, lateral raise, upright row, triceps, and shoulder raises).

I cut off the cable (yes--drastic measure, I know:)), so no TV, unless I go to watch some in the gym downstairs. Also, limited the internet use--peeked in only about 3 times in the day, and kept it pretty brief.

Have drunk a large cup of coffee through the day, but stopped drinking it past 5 pm or so. But am still feeling pretty awake at 10.30 pm...hope I start to feel sleepy soon or else I won't be able to wake up early tomorrow. The plan was for me to be pretty tired by now having forced the all-nighter yesterday, and thus, start my early waking habit tomorrow morning onward. But, man! I'm tellin' ya--the night owl in me just won't quit! As typical, I've got second wind now!!)

Anyway, water, food, working out, and work has all been on track today.

Will continue with the plan tomorrow. Speaking of plans, thanks to my buddies for suggesting I have timelines--and yes, I do---interim ones and completion dates--that's the only way I operate...without timelines and deadlines I'd be lost! Where it comes to my work, I've been very organized and systematic---however, where it comes to the weight- and home-stuff--that's been a whole different matter! But, the important thing is--I've been learning to manage and prioritize those matters over the last few months, so I gotta give me some credit for finally getting up to speed with that area of my life.

Tally of the day:
Weight: 162.6 (As Leanne predicted, yesterday's pound-gain seems to have been re-adjusted).

Water: Almost 3 liters

Workout: Done (Second one in the evening omitted....will start doing these from tomorrow)

Time management and stress management: Better today.

Meals and Points:
Post-workout: Protein mix with skim soy milk (3)
cheese piece (2)
Yesterday's leftover Green beans with walnuts (2)

Snacks: ricecake: (1)
grapes (1)
coffee with 3 irish cream individual servings and some skim soy milk (3.5)

Late lunch: leftover bok choy stir fry with tofu (4)

Dinner: 2 veggie patties (4)
1 plum (1)

Total: 21.5

Late entry: Just saw a great new idea on Mrs.johnson's journal, so am going to borrow and adapt it for my use...to try and devote a week day for the following:

Monday for Motivation,
Tuesday for "Treat"--a special, non-food related treat that we can give ourselves;
Wednesday for renewing that Willpower,
Thursday for being Thankful
Friday for "Fear", i.e., overcoming or tackling a new Fear each week

I wish I had your problem...kinda. I don't want to neccessarily not be able to go to sleep at night but, it would be nice not to be falling asleep around 10pm like a loser! I'm not a morning person either so what gives? Anyway, still think you're doing great and I'm sure you'll get on track with your work outs soon!

There's the girl we know and love! She's back and she's ready to lose the rest of the weight. It's so good to see your spirits in line with your goals and all the "fail safes" you've put in place to ensure your success (like cutting the cable - brave move! - I suggested cutting our cable for the summer one year but I may as well have been asking to cut off one of their limbs from the reaction I got!). Great job there, girlie. GO, O8, GO!

Well done getting so much work done last night, although how you cope with so little sleep I just don't know! You're sounding so focused, it's great to hear - and I'm so pleased I was right about the weight!! Keep up the excellent work on all fronts, Amy! PS I cannot believe you're 34 - looking at your photos, I was convinced you were around 25!!!
