Just changed my goal to 199 so I don't look like a fool with an unattainable goal. When I hit 199 I'm going to go buy a new wardrobe. Then I'll reset my goal again to my perfect healthy weight (which is around 140ish).

Did an unofficial weigh in this morning and am down to 307. That's another 4 lbs. We'll see if it was just a fluke or a scale glitch.

I've started tracking my measurements too, along with my body fat, body fat %, and BMI. I'm going to make an appointment with my doctor to see if we can do a RMR (resting metabolic rate) test. Since I have hypothyroidism, I can't go by what the online calculators tell me for this value, which sucks because it's hard to really tell how many calories I should be eating with that problem.

It's all math and science. Man, do I wish I'd paid closer attention in highschool.

Anyone out there know anything about hypothyroidism, specifically how to test levels, and if it's possible to do so without having to make a doctors appt to do it every time?

Sorry, wish I had some info to help but I have no idea, I hope someone can help you here, but I do know that you are doing a great job! I know it's hard to stay positive when our goals seem so far away, but you are doing awesome and you ARE so positive and I have no doubt you will reach your goal, you go girl! (O:

Thanks Vegas! I'm trying :) The goal doesn't feel as far away as it used to. I remember thinking 'OMG 150 lbs?!?!? That'll take me years!'. Now I'm like, ok, no problem, it's only 2 years. I'll be at a healthy weight by my 35th birthday. That doesn't suck. If I get lucky I'll be able to reverse my thyroid and emotional conditions in the process. It's all good! :D

I also have hypothyroidism. I was diagnosed just after I joined fatsecret in March last year. It's been driving me crazy lately. I had my levels reviewed with my doctor on the 9th and found out I was low again. I should have recognized the signs in terms of finding it harder to exercise (tired) and to just maintain my weight. I don't know to test the levels without the lab req from the dr. I have to go back in a few weeks to see if the new meds are working. I'll ask her. I was also wondering about my metabolism. I thought you should only gain weight if your calories eaten are greater than burned. I exercise regularly and from using the diet calander my calories burned are much higher BUT I'm finding it difficult to just maintain my weight. I've got a book on hold from the public library. I'll let you know if I find anything out or if the book is any good. Later, Sandra
