Still on vacation...
I had planned to fast on Tuesday, but we were at a pool party and there were french fries... so I hit the carbs hard and woke up with a stuffy nose and head Haha. Today I am gonna do low carb...
I got in the gym this morning and of course I was able to lift my max and get a solid workout. Carbs *are* great for lifting weights. Yes, I can lift weights when doing low carb, but, when I carb up I can push myself to the max.
However, I can *see* the fat around my waist. I am going back to low carb and massive cardio with minimal lifting starting on Sunday when I get back from vacation.
I expect to do 3-4 weeks of this to get what is definitely looking like *20 pounds* I need to get rid of to get back to where I was only 2 weeks ago!
I have seen too many guys my age raise the body fat and not get back. I simply can't 'thread the needle' trying to balance eating carbs and weightlifting and not getting fat. Others can do it, but, I-simply-cannot-do-it.
Today I plan to fast until dinner, eat low carb, and from Thursday to Saturday I will allow myself a final *vacation eating blow out* :)
I do plan to lift on Friday morning.
😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

Okay - there's the thought / question - the fries /carbs for lifting. I was a bit curious on the consumption of high sugar type foods for the 'carb loading' and I get that no one would want to eat four baked potatoes compared to four twinkies before a workout. I've never felt stuffed from french fries. Do you feel the same?

Although of course, I don't workout so I probably wouldn't feel the same affect after fries that you would.

@FullaBella - It is hard for me to say definitively how say french fries the day before would be different than say a glass or orange juice the day of a workout. However, it *feels* like french fries the day before a workout allowed me to do 5 sets of 10 reps of squats that maxed out at 230 pounds. I just could not do that on a glass of orange juice haha!

When you’re lifting, do you try multiple exercises, such as pushups, KB Swings & DB Close Grip Chest Press-3 to 4 Rounds? You can finish these after your Squats or DL. It helps making lifting less boring & Challenging!!

@Srossca - I used to do that, but, (and I admit this is my own fault not having good form) I got really painful tendinitis. This is why I only do the squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and dumbbell rows. I am usually done and out of the gym in 30 minutes Haha!

If anyone wonders why I -make a plan- then -change it- then make another plan... This is why I do this journal. It is very helpful to look back on it and see what works for me and doesn't work for me. So far it seems I will 'cave in' and binge eat when I my day is not 'structured' like my work week. However, I seem to find the motivation to 'limit' the 'damage' by fasting even when I didn't plan to, after a 'cave'. I feel this fasting has allowed me to not hit 190lbs... yet...

I agree - that's why I journal here - not only my plan for healthy eating but other things. It's here, to be found, and examined again. I'm rereading my journals from 2014 and see where I was slipping deeper and deeper. Just couldn't really accept it at the time.

@FullaBella - Exactly! When I re-read the journals it is my biggest motivation to change, accept, or acknowledge what works for me.

Snorting Speed (Amphetamine) might help lifting. Lifting without the aid of drugs works too. I'm happy with my progress doing it free of drugs.

@Diddlee - Yeah that is why I have to be happy with where I'm at :)
