Had to take DH back to eye specialist this AM. His vision problem may be related to his high blood pressure, and I think his "oh, it is nothing" attitude is making my blood pressure to go up too!
Anyway, he is off to the his family doctor to deal with his blood pressure and I am doing much better now.
As for weight loss, after 4 days I have lost 3 pounds. I know I should be thrilled but I keep thinking I still have to lose 8 more pounds just to get back to my Nov 12th weight.
OK - enough being negative. The sun is out, the weekend is ahead, and there is still hope that I will be wearing those size 10 jeans sometime in 2013.

Bren - Thank you! BTW - he has returned from the doc and will be taking blood pressure meds. I would rather he watch his diet and take care of himself in other ways, but one step at a time!

Congrat's on the loss, Buffy! It's hard not to look at the where-I-was-back-then, but try to keep focused on the most recent progress and go from there. Or.....go ahead and look back, but look ALL the way back to your original starting point and you'll see you've still made excellent progress!

Jozette - I was afraid that this many calories would counter act the low carb - but decided not to worry about it since I needed the extra calories to get me through the "cold turkey" carb withdrawal. After the 15th I can start working on my portion sizes and calories. Hope you have a nice evening.

Heather - You and I both! But we have gone through this before - he'll work on his health and then just give up. I try to encourage without nagging, but only he can decide to do this.

Buffy -- It is coming off :)
Sorry to hear of your hubby's health issues -- maybe he can do both -- watch is diet (helps when you both are on the same page) and take them meds until he doesn't need them any more. I was on bp meds for a few years and was able to go off of them last year -- it is possible.

WOW! Buffy - our lives seem to be mirroring each other these days!!! First let me say WHOOO HOOO on the 3 dead soldiers!! I don't care if it's water weight, or a blend ... it keeps you focused on your goals, and gives you a boost in the right direction!!! I'll take it! And I'm happy for you!!! Now on to the Hubby Dilemma... Mine too is overweight, and has high blood pressure. Except when he goes to the dr. Not kidding. We have a middle son who is a paramedic (he takes dad's pressures right at the dinner table...up!) Dad makes an appt...watches his sodium, and what he eats for the week or so before his appt...it's back down. (ridiculous!) Bottom line - I have left him alone about this for some time...until my son explained to me the dangers of his pressures being what they are!!! WELLLLLL, we turned a corner this New Year - and it's 'poop or get off the pot' time around here. No more 'maybe I'll worry about it, i don't really care...' mentality. As the woman in charge - you will eat what I make, or eat what I buy...and I am not buying anything 'processed/packaged/favorites/junk' anymore. This might have (once upon a time) blown my marriage out of the water!! But he just smiled...and said thank you. HUH??? Yup! "I know you're doing this for me..." Indeed! Husbands are funny men! I wish you love, luck, and the patience to deal with him!!! LOL!

Paula - Thanks - now that DH - is working out of town 4 days/week it is getting harder for me to help him with his diet. I am going to be on the internet doing research today. But following your lead I had better get my butt to the Amish store to stock up on nut flours, etc. and send him off with some home baked snacks.
